Satisfy your sweet tooth with this delicious and kid-friendly dirt pudding recipe. Perfect for a Halloween treat or an Earth Day celebration!

Cooking up a classic dish like dirt pudding is an enjoyable way to engage all members of your household. Whether you want to serve a nostalgic treat at Halloween, create something special for Earth Day, or simply give your family a delicious dessert – this recipe has it all.

The main ingredients include fudgy chocolate pudding and crunchy Oreo crumbs which provide a great texture contrast: smooth and creamy versus crisp and crunchy!

Kids love the added gummy worms as they make for fun presentation and tons of giggles.

With just 10 minutes of prep time, this quick-and-easy dirt pudding recipe should be one in every home cook’s repertoire!

How to Store Dirt Pudding

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Fluff salad is best served the day of but leftovers will be perfect for the next few days. If stored any longer the marshmallows will become unpleasantly soggy and mushy from sitting in the pudding mixture.

I do not recommend freezing fluff salad as the texture may become unappetizing.

About the Ingredients for Dirt Pudding

Pudding – You can also use the sugar free and fat free versions of instant chocolate pudding. Just make sure it is the instant variety and not the cook and serve.

Milk – You can use any milk you like to prepare the pudding, or you can water if you like. Using milk gives a richer flavour to the salad.

Cool whip – You can use a light/low fat frozen whipped topping instead or make a homemade stabilised whipped cream.

Marshmallows – Only mini marshmallows will do, skip the regular sized marshmallows. Regular or the fruit flavoured ones will work, although regular will taste better in this mix.

Oreos – You want to crush the Oreos whole, with the filling. For a less sweet option, just use packaged Oreo crumbs.

Chocolate chips – I prefer semisweet to cut some of the sweetness of the rest of the fluff, but you can use milk chocolate chips instead if you like.

Gummy worms – Use as many or as little gummy worms as you prefer.
