Most of us likely have fond memories of the toys of our childhood. For me it was the Little People garage and the monkeys in a barrel game in the Church nursery that had me looking forward to Sunday mornings. It was the Fisher Price wind up radio I loved listening to so much while sitting outside on warm summer days.
These are the kinds of memories I want my own kids to have. Do you ever wish that favourite toy from your childhood was still around to share with your own little ones?
Well look no further because Tin Toy Arcade likely has it!
Tin Toy Arcade is family ran business that sells classic toys, retro novelties, and fun old fashioned things your family will love. You can find everything from wind up Tin Toys to hard to find toys from your own childhood.
I was invited to check out some of the toys, and there is such a vast selection of toys it was really hard to choose. We ended up picking out the Curious George Jack in a Box Tin Toy, the Fisher Price Change A Tune Piano and the Fisher Price Music Box Record Player.
Tin Toy Arcade actually has a number of Jack in the Box type tin toys. I went with the Curious George one as the girls have recently fallen in love with him. He was also one of my favourite childhood characters so I was a little bit excited at this find, and have always wanted a jack in the box!
Like a typical jack in the box, Curious George pops out to surprise you when you turn the crank. It plays the typical “Pop Goes the Weasel” melody and when the music stops, out pops the monkey.
The first time Keira wound up the crank, she was smiling and dancing a little to the music not realizing what was about to happen. When the music stopped and the monkey popped out she literally jumped and screamed but then started giggling. She has been in love with this little tin toy since and is constantly falling over giggling because of it.
The Change a Tune Piano from Fisher Price was one I wasn’t familiar with but it looked like something both my 1 year old and 3 year old would enjoy playing with.
It is a perfect reproduction of the 1969 musical toy with 3 songs in an old fashioned upright piano. The white and blue Fisher Price Classics Change-A-Tune Piano includes rotating dial that shows and plays the classic tunes, “Pop Goes the Weasel, “ “This Old Man,” and “The Muffin Man.”
Keira and Ava both love playing along, tapping away at the white keys and having the songs played properly every time. This is such a beautiful toy and such wonderful fun for little ones!
The Fisher Price Music Box Record Player is a toy that I remember from my childhood but I honestly cannot remember where I played with it. Perhaps in my kindergarten class or the church nursery. I do remember loving being able to change the “records” and play a different song.
It’s no surprise that my music loving, constantly dancing little girls love it too! Keira, my 3 year old, has fully figured out how to change the discs and wind it up and get the record playing going. My 1 year old cannot yet but she does love constantly carrying it over to me by its handle asking me for music.
It actually comes with 5 double-sided records for a total of 10 different songs and they all fit neatly inside the record player for neat and easy storage.
You will find other great toys from your childhood on Tin Toy Arcade as well such as the Fisher Price Radio I already mentioned, the ever popular chatterbox telephone and the Pull A Tune Xylophone also from Fisher Price.
