Oh, the Places You’ll Go! Cupcakes
Oh, the Places You’ll Go! was the last book published before the death of Dr. Seuss. The book concerns the journey of life and its challenges.
A perennial favorite, Dr. Seuss’s wonderfully wise graduation speech is the perfect send-off for children starting out in the world, be they nursery school, high school, or college grads! From soaring to high heights and seeing great sights to being left in a Lurch on a prickle-ly perch, Dr. Seuss addresses life’s ups and downs with his trademark humorous verse and illustrations, while encouraging readers to find the success that lies within. In a starred review, Booklist notes: “Seuss’s message is simple but never sappy: life may be a ‘Great Balancing Act,’ but through it all ‘There’s fun to be done.’”
These cupcakes perfectly celebrate Oh, the Places You’ll Go! and are a perfect way to celebrate Dr. Seuss Day or any Dr. Seuss themed party! Don’t forget to grab these Dr Seuss Free Party Printables!
Ingredients:
1 boxed cupcake mix, prepared
1 recipe buttercream frosting (recipe follows)
Wilton Icing Tint, Red
24 Sour Power Candies (These are 8/$1 at Dollar General)
Buttercream Frosting:
3 cups powdered sugar
¾ cup butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1-2 TBS milk
Cream butter and powdered sugar together with electric mixer. Beat in vanilla. Slowly mix in milk, 1 tsp at a time until frosting reaches desired consistency.
Directions
Prepare the cake mix following the directions for cupcakes. While they cool, make the buttercream frosting. Reserve one cup, tint the remaining with the Wilton Icing Tint until you reach the desired shade of red.
Once cupcakes are completely cool, place a rounded teaspoon of the white frosting to the center of each cupcake. Wrap each candy into a loose spiral and set in the center of each cupcake, using the frosting to brace it.
Fit a pastry bag with a star tip (round looks great, too). Fill with red frosting. Pipe around the edges of each candy.
