Tiana from Princess and the Frog is the Dream Big Princess of the month for June.

Ambitious, intelligent, and resourceful Tiana dreams of one day opening her very own New Orleans restaurant. Inspired by her late father, she knows everything about cooking and running a business, but still faces enormous obstacles. She works hard, saves every penny, and is determined to overcome all trials and tribulations. She is eager to see her dream come true and is confident in her own abilities.

A couple years ago I came across a piece of school work. It was a star cut-out with sparkles and a wish written on it saying that I wanted to be a ballerina on ice with a glittering dress. I traded in that dream of a glittering dress and ice skates for the goal of getting an honours diploma in Network Engineering, building a career and starting a family.

I managed to achieve all that only through hard work and perseverance.

In Princess and the Frog, Tiana is a strong willed, intelligent, independent, persevering, heroic and hard working woman. Just the kind of character I love as a role model for my girls and they’ve watched Princess and the Frog enough times that I’m sure some of that has rubbed off on them!

Throughout the movie Tiana shares that “The only way to get what you want in this world is through hard work.” She empowers girls especially to break through the glass ceiling and be who they want to be. Ambition and determination makes her dreams come true.

Hasbro’s Disney Princess Royal Shimmer Tiana Doll is simply gorgeous. She is wearing her iconic lily-pad green  gown but with a twist – it is a jewel-ombre gown with tons of glitter thrown on for good measure. Tiana is truly magical in her oufit complete with tiara!

I love how much she looks like her movie self – right down to her dimples. She looks like Disney’s animated character come to life, and that is definitely what I love most about this doll. She isn’t a clone, painted and clothed in a specific colour to represent the character. No, instead they have paid attention to all the details. She is the character.

Disney Princess Little Kingdom Fashion Change Tiana is a fun little doll. She is only 3 inches tall but she packs a lot of fun.

You can transform Tiana’s look from her classic green gown to a blue gown similar to the iconic blue princess gown, loaned to her by Charlotte for the masquerade ball. You can also mix and match to create fun fashion combinations while accessorizing Tiana with the included snap-ins.  This set comes with the doll, 2 bodies, 2 peplums, 2 skits and 3 snap-ins (two flowers and one frog on a lily-pad.)

The girls love changing the outfits around on Tiana. The only con about this doll is the small parts. Unfortunately within a day of play we managed to lose the green bodice. It’s in the living room somewhere so I am sure it will pop up soon (unless it went down the cold air return) but we’ve since started storing Tiana in a plastic sandwich bag to help prevent any further loss. 

Overall, both Tiana dolls were a big hit with my girls.
