Kidoodle.TV Review & Giveaway #KidoodleMom
Keira has never been one to sit and watch TV. She would rather run around like a whirlwind. Unfortunately that doesn’t work well when I need to be able to cook dinner before my husband gets home from work, and it really does not work when I need to nurse the baby and settle her down to sleep.
When I need to cook I will often sit her down with crayons and paper in her highchair or with some dough to play with. Unfortunately that isn’t an option when I need to be in another room with the baby which is where quiet TV time is often needed. One thing I worry about is her inadvertently changing whatever I put on for her to something I’d rather her 2 year old eyes not take in.
Cue Kidoodle.TV, a streaming video service designed just for kids aged 12 and under. It works similar to the streaming service you probably use to watch marathons of your favourite shows. The difference is that it gives you, the parent, the ability to restrict the available shows by age and by what you want them to watch. Kids are then able to choose from what is available to them to watch.
I love that Kidoodle.TV is ad-free and I like that I can set viewing time limits If that ever becomes an issue. The parents section is also password protected so that Keira can’t just swipe away at the screen and gain control over the settings.
What I like most though is that there is a great variety of new and retro content available. She can watch her favourites like Caillou, My Little Pony, Super Why, and Rastamouse. I can also introduce her to my childhood favourites – Paddington Bear, Strawberry Shortcake, Inspector Gadget and More!
Just tonight, after dinner, I decided we need some Mommy and Keira time since Ava was miraculously already asleep. I thought it would be nice to cuddle up on the couch together and watch some Kidoodle.TV before reading some books together. As soon as I put on Kidoodle.TV she immediately told me “Caillou”! I actually had no idea she knew about Caillou… let alone knew how to say Caillou. We then sat through a quite long (for her) ad-free marathon of Caillou. Perfect.
Ava is nowhere near old enough to watch TV but when she is old enough, I can only assume I will not want her watching whatever shows Keira will be into. Kidoodle.TV has a solution for that too with the ability to create up to 5 different profiles. This is perfect for when you have multiple children so that you can ensure each of them is watching only the content meant for them.
I like that Kidoodle.TV can be watched anywhere on a computer, mobile device, or tablet since we have multiple devices that get used for different reasons. It is nice to always just be able to turn it on and play when we need it.
