Working at an athletic wear and shoe-store during most of my 20s was life altering. Previously I didn’t put much thought into what went on my feet but suddenly I found myself judging people by their shoes. It was the very first thing I noticed – I found myself quickly taking in not only the brand but the cleanliness and newness of the shoe, if the shoes actually fit, if the wearer was pronating or supinating. I hate to say it but I would often turn down men based on the condition of their shoes. Seriously.
My shoe collection grew from one pair to well over 30 and I can honestly say that it is one spending habit I have never even thought about curbing. Thankfully my husband is just about as bad as me which makes us a dangerous pair when we are near shoe stores.
I am really passionate about wearing not only trendy and “cool” looking shoes, but that they are high quality, comfortable and above all provides proper support.
One of the things I learned working at that shoe store was how much people really loved New Balance. We had people coming in several times a day asking specifically for New Balance and these people ranged from runners to postal workers to the much less active.
It’s been awhile since I last got a look at the latest technology in running shoes so I was pretty excited to be sent a pair of New Balance 890v4 Running Shoes to try out.
What immediately stood out for me was how trendy the New Balance 890V4s looked. I love the bright colours, they definitely fit in well with my shoe collection.
Picking them up I was struck by just how lightweight they are. These are seriously one of the lightest shoes I have ever tried on and yet they are packed with a ton of features that come together to make a great running shoe.
The main features that make the 890v4 so amazing is the responsive REVlite cushioning that acts to respond to every step, the FantomFit no-sew overlay upper makes use of panel-like construction which ensures not only a sleek look but also great arch support. The blown rubber outsole of the women’s 890v4and ABZORB® crash pad provides even more cushioning and acts to lessen the shock to your body with every foot strike. This results in a comfortable and light ride.
Features:
- 8 mm drop: due to variances created during the development and manufacturing processes, all references to 8 mm drop are approximate
- ABZORB® crash pad cradles the heel area medially and laterally for additional stability
- Blown rubber outsole
- No-sew material application
- REVlite midsole foam
- Unique podular structure maintains notion of full ground contact geometries, preserving the purity of the originally coveted 890 ride
Buy it:
The New Balance 890v4’s are available to purchase directly from New Balance online and are available in standard width as well as narrow and wide so everyone can get a great running shoe that fits great.

I love the colors and design of that shoe. I have always been a fan of New Balance ... I have an oddly shaped foot, and they seem to be the brand that fits me best.
