I actually started doing the 21 Day Fix back in December and I’ve been cooking separately for myself from the rest of my family. I wanted to look at recipe books and picked out Souping by Alison Velazquez (for me) and The No Time To Cook! Book by Elena Rosemond-Hoerr (for my family.)

I was looking for new recipes to shake things up a bit with the 21 day fix, specifically when I feel like I need a lighter eating day while still packing in nutrition.

The book starts off with a section that explains what Souping is, explains the differences between Souping and Juicing,  the health benefits of Souping, the essential ingredients you will want to have on-hand and the tools and equipment you will need to make your soups.

Souping, like all DK books, is filled with beautiful full-page colour photographs.  It also includes easy to follow recipes including quantity & serving sizes and maximum storage times as well as nutritional information broken down by serving for each recipe so it’s easy to determine which recipes will suit my needs and give me the most bang for my buck.

Each cleanse is explained clearly and broken down step-by-step with a timeline of tasks to complete including soups to prepare and portion out in advance.  Also included is a shopping list with all the ingredients needed to prepare your soups.

It’s certainly an interesting eating plan, and while I am not sure I would be able to get through even 3 days of just soup, I am certainly interested in trying out many of the soups – especially the fruit based ones like Mango Soup with Lime, and Cantaloupe Jalapeno Soup.
