How to Store Leftover Gooey Cake Batter Bars
If you have any leftover cake batter bars, you can store the bars in an airtight container or covered tightly in plastic wrap in the fridge for up to 1 week.
You can also freeze the bars for up to 3 months. Wrap the bars tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, and place in a freezer bag to store. To thaw, place the frozen bars in the fridge overnight.

Cake mix – Stick with either yellow cake mix or vanilla cake mix for the crust. Butter pecan cake mix is an excellent option too.
Butter – Softened butter here. You can use unsalted or salted.
Eggs – Make sure you start with room temperature eggs.
Food colouring – For softer, pastel colour use liquid food colouring, for more vibrant cake layer, use gel food colouring.
Cream cheese – Use full fat cream cheese for the best flavour. Substitute with light cream cheese for a lighter dessert. Be sure to start with softened, room temperature cream cheese so it is easier to work with.
Sugar – Just plain granulated white sugar.
Vanilla extract – Pure vanilla extract is best, clear vanilla is great too as you will get a whiter looking glaze.
Powdered sugar – Icing sugar helps make the gooey layer.
Sprinkles – Use any kind of sprinkles that you like.

Gooey Cake Batter Bars
Yields: 16 Servings | Prep time: 10 Minutes | Cook time: 35 Minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 white cake mix
- 3 eggs, divided
- 1/2 cup butter
- red food colouring
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- sprinkles of your choice
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

To make crust layer, combine cake mix powder, 1 egg, and butter.

Mix in a few drops of food colouring.

Press dough into a greased 9×13 cake pan.

For gooey layer, mix cream cheese, vanilla, 2 eggs, and powdered sugar together.

Spread evenly over crust.

Topping things off with sprinkles of your choice.

Bake at 350 degrees for 32-35 minutes.

When done, the edges will be browned and the middle set.
Allow to cool in pan, slice and serve.
