It’s a fact that the most commonly made New Years Resolution is in regards to weight loss.  Unfortunately weight loss also happens to be one of the first resolutions to be broken.  The New Year is a great time to make a fresh start in areas of your life that need positive change.  This year my New Years resolution is a little more realistic.  While I would like to lose about 50 lbs and get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and size, I’ve decided to make my resolution to live a healthier and more active lifestyle.  It is far easier to work towards a goal that is lifestyle changing than something that seems more event-oriented.  I am hoping that with my more realistic resolution in hand I will be able to achieve success in living healthier and perhaps as a by-product of my new lifestyle, I will be able to lose that elusive 50 lbs.

Eating healthy is an important part of a healthy lifestyle but getting exercise is pretty important too and I know I am certainly guilty of coming up with excuses not to.  Last year I broke out my Jillian Michaels 30-day Shred DVD and with a lot of pain and sweat and careful eating I did drop 17 lbs and I was positive about losing the next 33 lbs just as quickly.  That was right around the time I dropped a sheet of plexiglass and broke my toe.  The weight quickly piled back on because I had literally given up with even trying to exercise and when I saw that happen I started being a lot less careful about what I ate.

I’ve really wanted to do the Shred again but the thought of all that pain really put me off.  Plus I was a little bit worried about my knees and the strain from such a hard work-out.  Then I heard about the Jillian Michaels Beginner Shred at-home workout DVD.
Like the 30-day Shred, it is a 30-day at-home program to help you get back into the best shape of your life via circuit training.  Unlike the30-Day Shred, I was able to keep up from the start with the Beginning Shred but like the 30-day Shred, I certainly was feeling it!  I’m only a couple weeks into the program now but I am seeing similar results to what I did with the 30-Day Shred the first time around.  Except I don’t dread going up to the next level and I am not finding excuses why I should just not do it that day.  I feel great afterwards and I feel motivated to continue with the DVD the next day.  0001057_300I love that the Shred doesn’t involve heading to the gym because with two little ones and a husband that works shifts it can be hard to find a set time every single day that I can just leave the house.  It just doesn’t happen for me right now.  For those that can get out to the gym for fitness classes or just some free time working out Gaiam carries this beautiful  Metro Gym Bag.  I love the quilted look but really appreciate all the thought that was put into the design between the cinch cord at the bottom of the bag to carry your yoga or fitness mat in to pockets perfect for water bottles and even a zippered pocket inside and a key ring holder.  It is also pretty perfectly sized to carry an outfit change and any necessities.

Gaiam is a wonderful source for fitness and yoga.  They carry not only the best in workout DVDs like the Jillian Michaels Beginner Shred at-home workout DVD but other great fitness items like Balance Ball Chairs, Yoga Equipment and more.     item is the Metro bag (image attached) it’s the perfect accessory and fit’s everything for the gym!

  1. I like the “Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds Yoga Basics DVD.” I’ve always wanted to try Yoga, but I’ve found that the moves are a bit too challenging. Since I’ve tried the Leslie Sansone walking DVDs before (and found them easy to follow), I think she is best instructor to try Yoga with.

  2. Oh I’d love to try it all…..the 5 day DVDs catch my eyes….the balance balls….I need the tools to just exercise at home!

  3. Easy — their No-Slip Yoga Socks! Great for not just Yoga but any workout or activity requiring bare feet. Pilates, using those video games like Wii Sports or the Kinect sport games, etc..

  4. I love the Bamboo Sling Bag for throwing all my gear in. So many great products. THanks for the giveaway.

  5. I would want the Embossed Yoga Block-Grey. I used it when I took yoga classes so now that I’m buying stuff to do yoga at home, I think it’s necessary.
I have a mat and today I bought a Gaiam dvd.

  6. Another product I would love to have is the Balance Ball Chair — I’ve been thinking about one of these for awhile.
