As a little girl I always wanted a puppy. “Puppy” was always right at the top of my Christmas List but my parents didn’t want to deal with a pet on top of 3 young children. Something I completely understand at this point! Like most children, Keira loves animals and goes crazy when she sees people out walking their dogs.
My parents solution to this was of course to give me the next best thing – a GoGo My Walkin’ Pup and boy did I ever love that puppy!
Fast forward back to my own parenthood – over 20 years later – faced with a similar challenge and a FurReal Friends Get Up & GoGo My Walkin’ Pup Pet is my solution. Of course over the past 20+ years there have been big changes and improvements to this super cute animatronic toy!
You can take your Get Up & GoGo My Walkin’ Pup Pet for a walk by pressing and holding the button on her leash controller. She is also happy to sit for you when you pet her head. She barks back at you when you talk to her, her tail wags and she can even tilt her head in a sweet display of personality.
Keira literally squealed with delight when she first saw the puppy. I am almost certain she thought it was real at first but If that is the case she showed no disappointment in discovering that the Get Up & GoGo My Walkin’ Pup Pet is a toy. Keira is 2 months shy of her 3rd birthday so while the toy is rated for 4-6 years, she has no issues operating the Get Up & GoGo My Walkin’ Pup Pet. It’s adorable watching her pet, play and walk her new puppy, she really does love it and a month later still plays with her!
I love how soft and cuddly Get Up & GoGo My Walkin’ Pup Pet is. Her tilted head and little sounds make her absolutely adorable. As a parent I like that while she does bark and yip it is fairly quiet, especially compared to a real dog.
My only dislikes as a parent is that you can only control the puppy to walk straight and forward. This means that Keira has to stop and pick her up to go in the direction she wants. This isn’t a problem for her in the least, but it could make playing inside hard unless you have the space, such as a hallway.
There is also a free app you can you to interact with the Get Up & GoGo My Walkin’ Pup that really makes this toy extra fun.
Sit her beside you, face the mobile device toward her, and watch her interact with the app activities you play! Get Up & GoGo, My Walkin’ Pup pet will respond to the bubbles and hair dryer in one of the app activities. In the feeding app activity, she’ll let you know what treats she likes and doesn’t like. There are many app activities to play with her in a variety of ways! The FurReal Friends app is also a great way to meet other FurReal Friends pets, including Cuddles, My Giggly Monkey, Pom Pom, My Baby Panda, and Butterscotch, My Walkin’ Pony. The seven featured pet friends will even perform for you in their FurReal Friends app band!
The app is fun and very interactive. I love that it is completely free, and free of ads. There is no in-app purchases she can make which is kind of important if I am going to let Keira play with the app alone.
The FurReal Friends Get Up & GoGo My Walkin’ Pup Pet is like a real pet in many ways and Keira sure treats her like one too! She loves taking her for walks up and down our main hallway through the house, she loves feeding her through the app. It makes for a great “real pet” substitute and definitely recommend it for any children who just need to have a puppy!
