Storage Instructions

  • Room Temperature: Store the fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for 1 to 2 weeks, away from heat and direct sunlight.
  • Freezer: For longer storage, place the fudge in a freezer-safe container, layering pieces with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Butter: Adds richness and smoothness to the fudge. Substitute with margarine or a dairy-free butter alternative for a vegan option.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: Provides creaminess and sweetness. Use a homemade version by simmering milk and sugar until thickened, or substitute with a dairy-free sweetened condensed milk for vegan fudge.
  • White Chocolate Chips: The base of the fudge and used for decoration. Substitute with high-quality chopped white chocolate or dairy-free white chocolate chips if needed.
  • Vanilla Extract: Enhances the flavour. Replace with almond extract for a nutty twist or peppermint extract for a festive touch.
  • Salt: Balances sweetness. Sea salt or kosher salt works as well.
  • Green Gel Food Coloring: Creates the tree colour. Substitute with liquid food colouring, though gel provides a more vibrant colour without thinning the mixture. Natural food colouring, like matcha or spinach powder, is another option.
  • Christmas Nonpareils: Adds festive decoration. Swap with other colorful sprinkles, mini M&Ms, or edible pearls.
  • Yellow Star Sprinkles or Candies: Adds a finishing touch. Substitute with small fondant stars, shaped candies, or omit for a simpler design.

Creamy Christmas Tree Fudge features a white chocolate base topped with festive green trees, ornaments, and stars—a perfect holiday treat!

Christmas Tree Fudge

Yields: 20 Servings | Prep time: 15 Minutes | Cook time: 5 Minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 3.5 cups white chocolate chips, divided
    • 2.5 cups for the fudge base
    • 1 cup for decorating
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Green gel food coloring
  • Christmas nonpareils (for ornaments)
  • Yellow star sprinkles or candies (for tree toppers)

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. Melt Fudge Base: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the butter, condensed milk, 2.5 cups of white chocolate chips, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and melted.
  3. Pour and Set Fudge: Pour the white fudge mixture into the prepared pan, smoothing it out evenly. Tap the pan gently to even the surface. Place it in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours or until set.
  4. Melt White Chocolate for Piping: Once the fudge is firm, melt the remaining 1 cup of white chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan with simmering water or in short bursts in the microwave, stirring until smooth. Add a few drops of green gel food coloring and stir until fully mixed.
  5. Pipe Christmas Tree Designs: Cut the fudge into squares. Transfer the green chocolate to a piping bag (or a zip-top bag with a small corner snipped) and pipe small tree designs on each square of fudge.
  6. Decorate the Trees: While the chocolate trees are still wet, add Christmas nonpareils as “ornaments” and place a yellow star sprinkle or candy at the top of each tree.
  7. Chill to Set: Place the decorated fudge squares in the refrigerator for a few minutes to let the green chocolate set.
