About the Supplies Needed to Make Handmade Valentine Cards
Making handmade cards requires very few, and just basic supplies.
Craft Paper – You can either heavy card stock or simple construction paper for this craft. The card stock will be sturdier but construction paper is a lot easier for kids to cut.
Glue – Glue sticks are best here, but school glue is fine too.
Sharpie – You can use a washable black marker if your kids will also be drawing the face on.
Pencil – For tracing.
Scissors – Any kids scissors will do, but I particularly like these Westcott kids scissors.
Printer – To print out the template. If you don’t have your own printer you can also free hand your own bear design.

How to Make a Teddy Bear Valentine’s Day Card
Supplies:
- Coloured craft papers
- Craft glue
- Sharpie or gel pen
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Teddy Bear Template
Instructions:
Select pink craft paper and 2 different shades of brown coloured craft papers for the bear pattern. Select pink or red coloured paper for the heart shapes and any coloured paper of your choice for the card. Trace the head and body base patterns on the darker shade of brown paper, trace the mouth and the belly patterns on the light brown paper; and trace the inner ear parts on the pink paper. Cut out the traced patterns.
Attach the inner ear parts in the middle of the ear parts of the head pattern. Use a sharpie or a gel pen to draw the nose and the mouth of the bear on the mouth piece (round paper).
Attach the belly cutout on the top side of the body base pattern, keeping the straight side of the belly cutout aligned with the top side of the body base pattern. Attach the mouth piece near the bottom side of the head pattern.
Attach the head pattern on the top side of the body base pattern.
Use a sharpie or gel pen to draw the eyes of the paper craft bear figure.
Trace and cut out the heart shapes from the selected coloured craft paper.
Fold the heart shapes into half, symmetrically. Prepare the card as well. The card should be big enough to fit the paper craft bear and 3 or more paper craft heart balloons.
Place and glue the paper craft bear on a side of the card, keeping enough space on either side of the bear (on the card) to attach the paper craft hear balloons. Attach 2 half folded hearts side by side to craft a balloon. We added 3 heart balloons and then used a sharpie to draw strings with each balloon and join them together on the bear’s hand.
