Simple Thanksgiving Placemats
If you are looking to create a simple and frugal but still impressive tablescape for your Thanskgiving dinner, look no further! I was able to create these cute placemats for a couple of dollars using supplies found at Dollarama. Dollarama has a pretty decent crafting section with familiar brands so its a really great choice for cheap supplies.
Supplies:
Plain Placemats (I found neutral ones with gold weaved through it)
Stencil
Acrylic Paint (in a contrasting colour of your choice)
Directions:
First you want to plan out your wording. There are many different options depending on your stencils and how much room you have. Give Thanks, Blessings, and Merry Feast are some good options.
So I tried a couple methods with this project. The Stencils say to use a pencil to trace out the letters but this somehow resulted in a giant mess. The method I found that worked the best was the start at the bottom corner with the S and work out from there being careful to place each letter along the same line and then simply paint over the stencil.
That is it. There really isn’t much to it. It’s simple, easy, incredibly affordable and so unique!
I’ll just leave you with some Thanksgiving Quotes.
“I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual. It is surprising how contented one can be with nothing definite – only a sense of existence. Well, anything for variety. I am ready to try this for the next ten thousand years, and exhaust it. How sweet to think of! my extremities well charred, and my intellectual part too, so that there is no danger of worm or rot for a long while. My breath is sweet to me. O how I laugh when I think of my vague indefinite riches. No run on my bank can drain it, for my wealth is not possession but enjoyment.” ― Henry David Thoreau
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” ― John Fitzgerald Kennedy
“A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues.” ― Cicero
What a great idea! Now I just have to find some time to get crafty!
