9 Incredible Chicken Recipes to Help you Celebrate National Chicken Month #IHeartChickenFarmers
9 incredible chicken recipes to help you celebrate National Chicken Month – September is Chicken Month so head to your kitchen and start cooking up some of these delicious chicken dinner recipes!
I love chicken. I really do.
There was a time in my life where I decided to be a vegetarian, except I was definitely one of those chicken eating vegetarians. That’s a thing, right?
My kids? If you ask them what their favourite food is they will generally say chicken and rice. Sometimes they will say Spaghetti and Meatballs (incidentally I make mine with ground chicken because it’s so lean but still tasty.) Now and then they will declare it’s pizza – with chicken and pineapple.
It seems like I’m not the only one in love with chicken – chicken is actually Canada’s #1 protein choice. Canadians eat so much chicken it would be impossible not to be thankful for all the hard work Canadian Chicken Farmers do. So now it is time to show Chicken Farmers of Canada just how much Canadians appreciate all their dedication to farming and Canadian consumers.
To celebrate I’ve collected 9 of my favourite chicken recipes to share with you so that you can celebrate the very first National Chicken Month.
First up – the classic pizza gets a makeover into a delicious family meal idea in this Margherita Penne with Chicken recipe. Speaking of families, did you know that over 90% of Canadian chicken farms are family owned and operated? This is because Canadian chicken farmers use a system called supply management to carefully match their production to meet consumer demand. Smart, eh?
This recipe for Baked Crispy Chicken with Provolone is an amazing twist on a classic recipe that kids and adults will both love! Parents will love serving this dish to their families because not only is it sure to get eaten, but also because Canadian chicken farmers have worked hard to deliver a product that meets our high expectations for the food we serve to our families.
This Cilantro Lime Chicken with Fresh Avocado Salsa is delicious served with rice for a fresh tasting family dinner. You can feel comfortable serving your family Canadian chicken as the industry works closely with its partners to ensure regulations regarding the care and handling of the birds are met and followed. Consistency from coast to coast is ensured through the auditable Animal Care Program and the On-Farm Food Safety Assurance Program (OFFSAP).
Devilish Chicken is a family favourite recipe. It’s quick and easy to throw together and full of flavour. You might be getting a good idea by now why National Chicken Month deserves to be celebrated. If not, check out this next recipe!
This lemon chicken recipe is a bright, fresh dinner recipe that pairs well with fresh vegetables and a side of rice. Where would we be without guaranteed access to such high-quality chicken? Probably hungry and facing other issues too – Canada’s chicken farmers are truly a stabilizing force throughout our country.
Marinated and grilled in a scotch bonnet and orange glaze, these Orange Glazed BBQ Chicken Drumsticks are perfectly sweet and spicy. This is the perfect dish to celebrate such a driving force in our economy. Time to celebrate the chicken sector’s 2,669 chicken farmers and 145 processors who generate employment and wealth that helps to sustain agricultural communities in every province across the country.
This California Rotisserie Chicken Club Sandwich makes use of leftover chicken paired with applewood smoked bacon, avocado, caramelised onions and more! What a tribute to an industry that sustains an astonishing 78,200 jobs, contributes $5.9 billion to Canada’s GGDP, pays $2 billion in taxes (instead of seeking taxpayer money through subsidies), and in turn purchases 2.5 million tons of feed, supporting other farmers in turn.
This Slow-Cooker Chicken Curry Recipe is super easy to throw together and full of great flavour. This is a super easy family dinner recipe that is easy on the wallet – thanks to the low cost of chicken. Canadian chicken is available at truly reasonable prices thanks to supply management. You might have noticed, but the price of beef has gone up by 34% and the price of pork has gone up by 18% since 2013. The price of chicken has only increased by 5% during the same time period.
This Southwest Chicken and Quinoa Lunch Bowl is a delicious and spicy lunch that is so satisfying and full of fresh flavours. You can feel good about eating this dish – it’s super healthy and also supports Canadian chicken farmers. Chicken Farmers of Canada in turn support their communities with regular donations to food banks as well as supporting Canadian swimmers through their partnership with Swimming Canada.
