I was asked to put GLAD® compostable bags to the test and was sent all I needed to take the GLAD® gruesome Halloween challenge, including GLAD® compostable bags and a compostable bin.
I bought a pumpkin to carve for Halloween and for the purpose of this challenge. After cutting the lid out for my jack-o-lantern I scooped up all the pumpkin guts and threw them into the compostable bin lined with a GLAD® compostable bag. Then it was time to wait.
I was given guidelines of what to look for after 3-4 days.
- Is there condensation on the lid?
- Has the bag leaked? Is there liquid at the bottom of the bin?
- Were the odours contained?
So how did the Glad® OdourGuard® compostable bags hold up?
- No Condensation? Check
- No Leakage? Check
- No Odours with the bin closed? Check
I was actually a little surprised by the lack of odour coming from the bin despite my pregnancy induced super sniffing powers. This is because the Glad® OdourGuard® compostable bags neutralize all those unpleasant trash odours with Febreze™ Freshness which makes it ideal for indoor use.
I could tell right away that the bags were good quality and had the strength to hold up to even the type of mess that carving a pumpkin produces. I love that the bags themselves are 100% Compostable, gone are the days of lining the compost bin with newspaper!
When it came time for garbage collection day, I was happy to find that these compostable bags were also GLAD® Easy-Tie® bags, so they have four flaps designed for easy closing.
And my Jack-O-Lantern? How did that turn out?
Pretty good for a newbie at pumpkin carving, don’t you think!
