With comprehensive wine encyclopedias and clear, easy-to-follow cookbooks – DK’s selection of illustrated epicurean titles in their Food & Drink Boutique will be sure to please your favourite foodie! All the books in the boutique are specially priced at 30% off for a limited time!
As you may have noticed, I’m a bit of a foodie and I love trying out new recipes and restaurants. I’m a little bit addicted to food. While I love eating good food, I also don’t mind flipping through gorgeous, glossy photos in a recipe book of beautiful food. That is why I always love DK’s collection of cookbooks. You can always count on the high quality photographs paired with the recipes.
I chose two titles from this boutique to check out, Hors d’Oeuvres and Soup, although I noticed titles included in the boutique that I have read before.
From simple quick appetizers to sophisticated creations that will really wow your guests, discover how to make tarts, blinis, frittatas, Middle Eastern mezze, Spanish tapas, and more — in DK’s Hors d’Oeuvres.
Featuring innovative assembly sequences, technique step-by-steps, and “6 ways with” spreads that take a basic style of hors d’oeuvres and give you six simple and stunning recipe ideas, Hors d’Oeuvres shows you how to create these masterpieces yourself all through fully illustrated, clear step-by-step assembly sequences, ensuring your work is never less than perfect.
The book is divided into several chapters covering ingredients, equipment, recipes, techniques and the Party. The Recipe section is divided into 5 sub-sections: Nibbles, Dips and Dippers – Tops and Bottoms – Sticks And Skewers – Wraps And Rolls – Stacks And Cases.
The recipes are easy to follow and some include step-by-step photos of more complicated techniques, along with beautiful final photos of the finished apps.
Hors d’Oeuvres contains over 200 appetizer recipes and several meal plans to help you throw the perfect party. I highly recommended this book for those who love to entertain, and do it right!
More than just warm, comforting, and nourishing, soup also helps cooks avoid waste, use up surplus ingredients, and make the most of locally produced or homegrown seasonal vegetables.
Packed with 250 recipes, organized by ingredient — from pasta and noodles to meat and winter vegetables — Soup helps turn surplus food in your fridge into mouth-watering meals.
With an illustrated techniques section, charts for seasonal vegetables and leftovers, and a series of themed recipe choosers, this innovative cookbook will help home cooks make the most of this food staple.
DK’s Soup includes a foreword by Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation.
I love soup. There is just nothing more comforting and yet often full of complex flavours. I have a good collection of soups I make myself that I enjoy but I am always open to more ideas and this book is full of different recipes for soup.
As usual for DK publishing titles, this book is also full of beautiful photos of the soups themselves.
