If you have grocery shopped recently at a Loblaws brand store you may have noticed a brand new frozen range in the frozen seafood section. If you haven’t already, it’s time for me to introduce you to The Saucy Fish Co., a UK based brand who has recently arrived in Canada, and their range of exciting, flavourful premium fish products.
This is really great news for my family as we love to eat fish. During the week this usually means either frozen battered fish or pan fried frozen fillets when I have the time to thaw them out. The kids love it either way, and always clean their plates but it does get monotonous for Anthony and myself.
The Saucy Fish Co. presents a delicious and convenient way to shake up weekday dinners. Whether you are looking to add more variety to your go-to-meal line-up or want to add more fish into your diet, they are a very accessible and easy way to serve your family a restaurant quality meal.
The Saucy Fish Co.
You can find four products from The Saucy Fish Co. in Canada that can be oven cooked straight from frozen:
- Lemon Butter Sauce sensational with Herb Crusted Atlantic Salmon
- Chili, Lime and Ginger Dressing superb with Atlantic Salmon
- Aged Cheddar and Chive Sauce smashing with Smoked Haddock
- Salsa Verde tremendous with Tilapia
Each of these items come with two fish portions, sauce, and an oven bag.
Making a meal out of this product at the last minute couldn’t be any easier since they cook from frozen. What a great solution to the age old married couple question, “What’s for dinner?”
Simply follow the instructions on the packaging for each product. Place the fillets in the included oven bag, seal it up, place it on a baking sheet and bake according to directions.
No mess, no fuss. Simply prep the sauce by heating it in a pot of water on the stove, and prep your sides. We enjoy our fish with rice and coleslaw or a salad for a healthy meal that our whole family enjoys.
This one is the Chili, Lime and Ginger Dressing superb with Atlantic Salmon. The Salmon was perfectly cooked and paired perfectly with the sweet sauce featuring just a hint of spice. The amount of sauce provided is quite generous so you can have as little or as much sauce to drizzle over the fish as you want.
This one is the Salsa Verde tremendous with Tilapia.
After we had sampled each of the four flavours Anthony felt compelled to let me know that he would happily eat any of them at any time. This is extremely high praise from him as he is generally very picky, and slow to give positive opinions on new food.
The kids adored the Aged Cheddar and Chive Sauce smashing with Smoked Haddock and I can’t blame them, it was really very delicious in a surprising way. Cheese with fish? Who knew!
Like Anthony, I really enjoyed each of the flavours, but if I had to pick a favourite I would probably say the Lemon Butter Sauce sensational with Herb Crusted Atlantic Salmon. I’m a little lemon obsessed and this one really hit the mark for me.
Ready to Eat Saucy Fish
You can also find three products from the already cooked Ready to Eat Saucy Fish range:
- Sticky Maple sauce sensational with smoked and roasted Atlantic Salmon fillets
- Tomato and Chilli Chutney tremendous with Roasted Sweet Chilli Atlantic Salmon fillets
- Sicilian Lemon & Dill Mayo magnificent with Roasted Lemon and Herb Atlantic Salmon
These can be thawed and eaten cold for a quick lunch, or heated for a quick entrée. They are fabulous served over a salad or stuffed in a pita.
You can’t miss them in the frozen seafood aisle thanks to the eye-catching, colourful packaging and can be found at Loblaws brand stores across Canada including Zehrs, Your Independent Grocer, Valu-Mart, Provigo, Dominion and Atlantic Superstore. You can also shop online for saucy fish products to help you add more flavour to your dinner plate!
