Squeezing in Some “Me” Time as a Mom

As a mom, you focus so much on your kids and what they need. You’re there for them when they wake up until they go to bed. You drive them to school and to their sports functions. You even wake up in the middle of the night with them when they have nightmares. In the middle of all that you do for your kids, it’s important to squeeze in some “me” time.

Take a Bath
If you need a little bit of me time after a demanding day, fill up the bathtub and soak away your worries. Taking a bath is a great way to spend time by yourself without any noise other than the music you play. If you really want to pamper yourself, use your favorite bubble bath scent and pour yourself a glass of wine. Not sure when you can squeeze in a bath for your “me” time? Try taking one after the kids have gone to bed. It will relax you for your own bedtime.

Naptime
Naptime is another great way to squeeze in some “me” time. When you put your kids to bed, don’t immediately start cleaning up the house or doing laundry. Instead, think about one thing you want to do for yourself. It might be something as simple as painting your toenails or giving yourself a facial. Once you’ve had your “me” time, you can get started on those chores that are waiting for you.

Hire a Sitter
Sometimes, it feels like it’s impossible to squeeze in some “me” time. If you can’t figure out a time to pamper yourself, you might want to consider hiring a babysitter for a few hours. The babysitter will take care of your kids while you get to focus on your needs. This is a great way to ensure you have a quiet and relaxing time to yourself.

Mommy & Me Dates
Even though you’ll share this “me” time with your child, a mommy and me date is actually a great way to take care of yourself. Arrange to have you and your child go to the spa or get a pedicure. You’ll enjoy spending time with your child while still pampering yourself.

Grocery Shopping

Rather than sending your partner to the store, go yourself and use it as a mini-momcation. Especially if you are a stay-at-home mom. Trust me. The grocery store is basically gold. Head to one of the more luxury-level grocery stores, You know the one where you can get a latte, sushi, meat butchered on site, maybe a nice shopping section with houseware. Grab that Latte and shop slowly, savouring every single minute alone. You will return home feeling a whole lot more like yourself, and your partner will get some fun alone time with the kids!

Get up Early

Wake up before your kids and savour a cup of coffee before the everyday hustle and bustle of the day begins. This is a great time to collect your thoughts, and start your day positively.

How do you squeeze in your “me” time? What do you do when spending time on yourself?

Everyone needs a bit of time to themselves to recuperate and build up their strength again. This is most difficult for parents as there's always something needs doing and it is very difficult to find the time to do something for yourself.
