After slaving away in my kitchen preparing meals for my family, spending more time cleaning up is not my favourite thing to do. Unfortunately cooking often leaves greasy stains throughout the kitchen to clean up. Sometimes the grease spots will go undetected for a few days and become hard-to-remove, requiring a whole lot of elbow grease to scrub out.
Of course elbow grease alone isn’t enough to tackle the gunk found in most well-used kitchens and while commercial grease cleaners can do the trick, I am here to share a simple tip with you that will change your life and get you back to enjoying that glass of wine you so deserve.
Seriously this is a game changer and you probably already love and use the secret ingredient: DAWN!
Dawn is the only dish soap my family uses, it cut grease off dishes better than anything else but did you know that is also a pretty awesome secret weapon for greasy messes throughout your home from kitchen surfaces, to laundry pre-treating, to greasy tools, or car wheels and bike tires… nothing beats Dawn at getting them clean.
When grease escapes your frying pan, use Dawn to remove it from most kitchen surfaces using these three easy steps:
- Apply a squirt of Dawn to a sponge/dish cloth under warm running water.
- Scrub the greasy surface, and watch Dawn put grease in its place.
- Dry the surface with a paper towel and that’s it.
Let’s see that in action now. I tested with the remains of making spaghetti and meatballs. I pan fry my meatballs which results in the best meatballs you will ever taste but it also creates the greasiest mess you will ever see. I let that grease sit there overnight before tackling it with my new secret weapon. I just didn’t want it to be too easy of a challenge for dawn.
Just look at that. The Dawn literally wipes away all the grease without scrubbing and I am left with a sparking white stove-top again. This trick works great on other kitchen surfaces too such as cabinet doors, counter-tops and more!
