Recipe Highlights – Why This Recipe Works
- Totally festive: A Santa-shaped dip that wows every guest.
- Creamy & dreamy: Smooth cheesecake meets fluffy whipped cream and fresh strawberries.
- Dip your way: Cookies, crackers, pretzels, or fruit – pick your favourite.
- Stress-free prep: Make the base ahead and assemble in minutes.

Tips for Best Results
- Soften the cream cheese and butter properly. This helps the dip blend smoothly without lumps.
- Chill before shaping. Wrapping the mixture tightly in plastic wrap allows it to firm up and makes forming Santa’s face much easier.
- Use cold cream for stabilised whipped cream. Cold ingredients whip faster and hold their shape better.
- Pipe the hat trim just before serving. Stabilised cream lasts well, but it looks its best when freshly piped.
- Pat the strawberries dry. Moisture can cause slipping, so blot them with a paper towel before placing them on the board.
- Shape on parchment paper. This keeps the dip from sticking and lets you reposition it if needed.
- Keep Santa chilled until serving. It helps the decorations stay neat and the dip hold its shape on a dessert board.

Ingredients and Substitutions
- Cream cheese: Full-fat gives the best texture, but brick-style light cream cheese will also work. Avoid whipped.
- Butter: Salted butter can be used; simply omit the pinch of salt.
- Brown sugar: Light or dark brown sugar both work, with dark adding a deeper caramel note.
- Powdered sugar: Can be reduced slightly for a less sweet dip.
- Almond extract: Optional for added flavour – swap with vanilla extract or omit entirely.
- Coconut: Sweetened or unsweetened both work; mini marshmallows or piped cream can replace it for the beard.
- Chocolate chips: Mini Oreos, candy eyes, or brown M&Ms can substitute for the eyes.
- Gumdrop nose: A red M&M, cherry, or small strawberry piece works too.
- Strawberries: Raspberries or red grapes can be used if strawberries aren’t available.
- Stabilised whipped cream: Swap cornstarch for instant pudding mix, or use store-bought whipped topping for convenience.

Serving Suggestions
- Arrange the Santa dip in the centre of a large board and surround it with a mix of sweet and crunchy snacks.
- Fresh fruit works beautifully — try sliced apples, pears, grapes, or extra strawberries.
- Add a variety of biscuits and cookies such as Biscoff biscuits, graham crackers, digestives, speculoos, shortbread, gingersnaps, Oreos, or vanilla wafers.
- Include chocolate-dipped pretzels, peanut butter pretzel clusters, fudge, or mini brownies for extra indulgence.
- For a festive touch, scatter peppermint bark, red and green chocolates, or mini candy canes around the board. We included Christmas tree pretzels which are so easy to make but look great on the board!

Santa Cheesecake Dip
Yields: 8-10 Servings | Prep time: 20 Minutes | Chill time: 2 Hours
Ingredients
- 8 oz (225 g) full-fat cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
- ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp almond extract (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- ⅓ cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 2 upside-down chocolate chips (eyes)
- 1 red gumdrop (nose)
- Fresh strawberries (for hat)
Stabilised Whipped Cream
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cornstarch (or 1 tsp instant pudding mix, for stabilising)
For serving
- Graham crackers, speculoos, vanilla wafers, chocolate squares, pretzels, and assorted cookies

Directions
- Make the dip base:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together with an electric mixer until smooth. Add the brown sugar, powdered sugar, vanilla, almond extract (if using), and salt. Beat until fluffy and fully combined. - Chill the mixture:
Scoop the mixture onto a large piece of plastic wrap. Wrap tightly, shaping into an oval as you go, then refrigerate for 1–2 hours, or until firm enough to handle. - Prepare the stabilised whipped cream:
In a clean chilled bowl, beat the cold heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form. Sprinkle in cornstarch (or pudding mix) and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Transfer to a piping bag fitted with a round or star tip. - Shape Santa:
Unwrap the chilled cheesecake mixture and transfer it to a parchment-lined board or platter. Smooth the oval shape if needed. - Decorate:
- Press shredded coconut onto the lower half to create Santa’s beard, adding two small coconut “eyebrows.”
- Add upside-down chocolate chips for eyes and a red gumdrop for the nose.
- Arrange fresh strawberries above the forehead to form Santa’s hat. Pipe the stabilised whipped cream along the hat base for trim, and a fluffy dollop at the end for the pom-pom.
- Serve:
Surround with cookies, crackers, and treats. Serve immediately, or refrigerate (loosely covered) until ready to enjoy.
