Upcycle old maps to create fun and pretty map coasters. Use local maps or maps from your travels to create these diy unique pieces.
Back in the spring I was cleaning out my car and found some old maps that had been sitting in there since before I had GPS or a phone capable of navigating. They brought back a lot of old memories of adventures and road trips with my friends and I decided to find another use for these rather than just throwing them away.
A couple weeks later I found some blank coasters at the craft store and inspiration struck! These would even make a great gift for someone who loves to travel.

Trace the map with the coasters and cut out with the scissors.
Cover top of coaster with modge podge. Brush it out evenly using foam brush.
Smooth map over coaster then brush over the top of the map with more modge podge until covered with a thin, even layer.
Allow to dry before using.

Elizabeth I'm only reading your map coaster suggestion now. It looks great. But can I ask what the coaster is made from. It looks like a tile but suspect it is not.

They are blank ceramic coasters, you can find them at Michaels, however tiles could work if you found some with a matte finish. You can find similar ones on Amazon if you don;t have a local craft store that carries them.

Fun idea, easy to adapt to put anything you would like on the coasters.
