You can choose to use any essential oil that is safe for kids or fragrance oil. The fruity smells of the citrus essential oils should be particularly appealing to kids however over choices parents might make such as lavender.  If you are looking to help calm them down, orange essential oil may do the trick and be a scent that kids find attractive.
