I recently subscribed to the Ipsy Glam Bag because I love my Julep Maven subscription so much I wanted more surprises.  After some research Ipsy looked like the best option for Canadians as far as cost/value.  I’ve been patiently waiting for my first Glam Bag and it finally arrived!

Each month, Ipsy subscribers receive a beautiful Glam Bag with 4-5 deluxe samples or full-sized beauty products.  The cost is $10 a month (or $110 for a full year’s 12 Glam Bags) which is pretty reasonable.   Shipping is free in the US but Shipping to Canada is USD $4.95 per month.

Let’s take a look at what I received this month and see if I got my moneys worth!

So this months theme is “Glamour Academy”.  They all appear to be deluxe samples rather than full sized products, but let’s take a closer look.

Michael Todd -Pumpkin Mask:  Nutrient-Rich Facial Mask

30 ml / 1 oz travel size

Value is $10

I could feel is tingling/burning a bit on my face so I assume it was doing something.  My skin did feel pretty nice once I rinsed it off and I can only assume I will notice the effects more with regular use.

Smashbox – Photo Finish Foundation Primer

7.1 ml / .25 fl oz Mini tube

Value is $6

I’ve never used a primer before.  I generally use concealer and then powder foundation.  I was really surprised by how matte this goes on and what a difference it really makes, especially when applying my foundation or BB cream.  I think I am sold on this one.

MICA Beauty Cosmetics – Shimmer Powder in 17 Bronze

2.50 gm / 0.1 oz

Value is $14.95

Shimmery eye-shadow,  It’s pretty but nothing really remarkable.

Pixi – Lash Booster Mascara

Size

Value is $

I wear Mascara everyday.  I have long thick lashes but because they are so light they are almost not even noticeable  unless I am wearing mascara.  So I know a few things about it.  This one went on easily with no clumping and the brush kept my lashes separated and more natural looking.  I was surprised to find that it seems to be waterproof as it didn’t go on the way most waterproof mascaras do but also didn’t smudge during a shower.  It did come off nicely with eye makeup remover though.

Urban Decay Revolution lipstick in 69

0.04 oz deluxe sample size

Value is $9.78

I don’t wear lipstick and I am pretty sure that when I filled out my quiz I said so.  This is a super bright red with pink under-tones which is far off from my more usual natural look.  I found it smoothed on very well, has a matte look and lasted for ages without needing to be re-applied.

This is the look I put together with this months Glam Bag.

I’m pretty happy with what I received this month.  I wish I had received anything but the lipstick but I guess I can force myself to wear it.  Who knows, I might grow to like wearing lipstick.

  1. I know that you said that you dont usually wear lipstick but I do have to say that that color is really really pretty on you 😀

  2. I agree with the other comments, I really like the lipstick color on you. In my Ipsy bag, I had the exfoliator instead of the mask, a blush instead of the eye-shadow/bronzer, I had the same mascara, a Pacifia BB cream instead of the primer (which isn’t that good), and a natural lipbalm.

    1. I think I would have liked the exfoliator more than the mask, although I have to say the mask is pretty nice. I see I forgot to write about the mask though urgh!

  3. I wanted the lipstick so badly, and I didn’t get it… I also really wanted the primer, and nope, didn’t get that either. I was pretty disappointed with my bag. I got the exfoliator, which was the high point- I LOVE it- the same mascara, the BB cream that Karine got (I also don’t like it), and a natural lip balm which is boring.

    1. That’s funny, I think I would preferred the lip balm. I’m glad everyone thinks the lipstick looks good on me, but I feel a bit awkward wearing it. Hopefully I will get used to it.

  4. Nice picture. It looks like it was worth it for you, although I would personally have some reservations, not even wearing the makeup I have very often.

    1. Honestly Karen, I don’t wear much makeup daily – generally just concealer, foundation and mascara. I figured this would be a good way to force me out of my beauty rut.

  5. I can’t believe that costs $10! Based on this box, it sounds like a steal — the CDN shipping cost is a bummer though. That lipstick colour looks gorgeous on you!

  6. I actually think that color looks great on you!!! It looks like your natural lip color, believe it, or not. In the picture it looks nice and sheer, with just a hint of shine. Beautiful!
