Ham and Cheese Cruffins
Easy Ham and Cheese Cruffins made with crescent dough, cheddar, ham, garlic butter, and everything bagel seasoning. Perfect for brunch.

These Ham and Cheese Cruffins are buttery, flaky, cheesy, and packed with savoury flavour in every bite. Made with refrigerated crescent dough for an easy shortcut, they come together quickly but still have that bakery-style look and texture that makes them feel extra special.
Each cruffin is layered with Dijon mustard, chopped ham, and plenty of melty cheddar cheese, then baked in a garlic butter brushed muffin tin until golden brown. A final brush of garlic butter and a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning gives them crisp edges and loads of flavour.
Theyโre perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunchboxes, holiday mornings, or easy grab-and-go snacks, and they taste just as good warm from the oven as they do at room temperature.
Recipe Highlights โ Why This Recipe Works

Tips for Best Results
- Brush the muffin tin well with the garlic butter to prevent sticking and create crisp, flavourful edges.
- Roll the dough tightly for cleaner spirals and a more defined cruffin shape.
- Use freshly shredded cheese for the best melt and texture.
- Bake until deeply golden for the flakiest texture and best flavour.
- Loosen the cruffins while still warm by running a knife around the edges before removing from the pan.
- Serve warm for the best cheesy, buttery texture.

Ingredients and Substitutions
- Crescent dough:
Refrigerated crescent roll dough is the easiest option and gives a soft, flaky texture. - Dijon mustard:
Adds a subtle tang that balances the richness. You can swap for honey mustard for a slightly sweeter flavour or even yellow mustard in a pinch. - Ham:
Use chopped deli ham, leftover baked ham, or even ham steaks diced small. Cooked bacon or turkey would also work well as a variation. - Cheddar cheese:
Sharp cheddar gives the best flavour, but mozzarella, Swiss, Gruyรจre, or a blend will all melt nicely. - Butter (for garlic topping):
Unsalted butter is ideal so you can control seasoning. Salted butter works too, just reduce any added salt elsewhere. - Garlic powder:
Provides even garlic flavour without burning. You can use fresh garlic, but keep it very finely minced so it doesnโt brown too quickly. - Everything bagel seasoning:
Adds crunch and savoury flavour. You can substitute sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or a simple mix of salt and dried onion flakes. I used just sesame and poppy seeds this time because that is all I had on hand. Use whatever you like, everything bagel seasoning is peak here though.
