Make-ahead & Storage Instructions
- Prepare Ahead: Make the cheese ball mixture up to 2 days in advance. Roll it into balls, coat them in toppings, and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Assemble the wreath and add fresh rosemary just before serving for the freshest presentation.
- Refrigerator: Store leftover cheese balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Keep crackers or bread separate to maintain their texture.
Ingredients & Substitutions
Cream cheese: Use full-fat cream cheese for the best texture. Reduced-fat or non-dairy cream cheese can be substituted for dietary needs.
Worcestershire sauce: Soy sauce or coconut aminos can work as alternatives for a slightly different flavour.
Hot sauce: Replace with sriracha, chili paste, or a pinch of cayenne pepper for a hint of zing.
Black pepper: Use white pepper for a subtler flavour or adjust to taste.
Garlic powder: Substitute with onion powder or minced fresh garlic for a stronger kick.
White cheddar cheese: Swap with sharp yellow cheddar, Gouda, or Monterey Jack for a different flavour profile.
Dried cranberries: Substitute with chopped dried cherries for a similar flavour and festive look.
Walnuts: You can also use pecans, almonds, or sunflower seeds for a nut-free option.
Chives: Green onions or parsley can be used if chives are unavailable.
Seeds: Replace with everything bagel seasoning for a more complex flavour.
Herbs: Use thyme, sage, or any sturdy fresh herbs to maintain the holiday wreath look.
