Halloween Mummy Pastries
These Halloween Mummy Pastries are made with puff pastry and cherry pie filling for a spooky-sweet treat perfect for Halloween parties!

If you’re looking for an easy and festive Halloween dessert, these Mummy Pastries are the perfect choice. Made with just a few simple ingredients—store-bought puff pastry, cherry pie filling, and candy eyes—they come together quickly and bake up golden and flaky with a bright red centre that’s just creepy enough to delight.
They’re great for Halloween parties, trick-or-treat night snacks, or lunchbox surprises. Even better, they’re fun to make with kids who’ll love assembling the bandages and placing the googly eyes!

Tips for Best Results
- Let them cool before decorating: Add candy eyes once the pastries are warm, not hot, so they stay in place and don’t melt.
- Avoid overfilling: Stick to about 1–2 tablespoons of cherry pie filling per pastry to prevent leaks.
- Crimp for a clean finish: Use a fork to seal the edges and keep everything tidy during baking.
- Don’t skip the egg wash: This helps the pastry turn golden and crisp in the oven.
- Serve the pastries warm, at room temperature, or make them a day ahead – they reheat well in the oven.

Ingredients & Substitutions
- Puff Pastry – You’ll need 2 sheets of store-bought puff pastry, thawed according to package directions. Regular or all-butter varieties both work well. You can also use homemade puff pastry if you prefer.
- Cherry Pie Filling – You will need to use a whole can of cherry pie filling for a bright red, jammy centre. You can substitute with strawberry, raspberry, or mixed berry pie filling for a similar look and flavour.
- Egg – A beaten egg is used for the egg wash, which gives the pastries their golden colour. If you need an egg-free alternative, use milk or a dairy-free milk in its place.
- Candy Eyes – These add the fun, spooky mummy look! You can find them in most grocery stores or baking aisles around Halloween. As an alternative, use mini chocolate chips or small dabs of white and black icing.

Ingredients:
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Candy eyes
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

- Spoon about 1–2 tablespoons of cherry pie filling into the centre of each rectangle, avoiding the edges.
- Brush the edges with beaten egg to help seal.

- Lay several pastry strips over the filling in a criss-cross pattern to resemble mummy bandages, leaving a small gap near the top for candy eyes.
- Press the edges down gently and crimp with a fork for a neat seal.
- Brush the tops of the pastries with the remaining egg wash.
- Bake for 15–17 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
- Let cool slightly, then place two candy eyes on each mummy and serve once cooled to room temperature.
