Now that fall is officially here it is time to start back up with hearty home cooked meals that satisfy both your body and soul. You know, I am not a fan of fall. It’s not my thing. It means cold weather which I do not like. The one thing I do really love about fall though is Thanksgiving. Specifically Thanksgiving dinner. I literally look forward to Thanksgiving dinner all year long every single year. It’s like practice Christmas dinner for me.
The only thing about Thanksgiving dinner (and Christmas dinner) that I never look forward to is the piles of pots and pans necessary for creating the dinner of the year. This is when you definitely want to have high quality cookware on your side. You want Non-stick cookware that is actually non-stick so that clean-up is a breeze. You want cookware that delivers on perfectly cooked meals. You want cookware that goes beyond the standard stainless steel.
Circulon® is a global leader and innovator in hard anodized non-stick cookware that has just launched its newly designed Prime Collection in Canada this fall 2014, available exclusively at Canadian Tire. The Prime Collection includes cookware sets, stockpots, skillets, roasters and even an electric griddle!
Designed to be a kitchen essential, the new Circulon Prime range combines quality and versatility to bring a refreshing new choice of cookware that delivers a superior cooking experience. This is made possible by Circulon’s Total non-stick system, a patented hi-low circular groove technology that enhances non-stick durability. The system promotes a healthy lifestyle by delivering high performance food release without the need to cook with oils and fats. Further, each pan is induction cooktop suitable, oven and dishwasher safe, and comes with a lifetime guarantee.
I was sent the The Circulon Prime 6 qt (5.7 L) Straining Stockpot which retails for $169.99 as well as the 18 inch (45 cm) Double Roaster which also retails for $169.99, both available exclusively at Canadian Tire. I kind of squealed at the pretty red and fell immediately and completely in love. I was soon to find out that the gorgeous red finish is really only the tip of the iceberg with this line.
Both pieces I received look and feel incredibly solid. They seem pretty durable, especially compared to my current cookware set (which is not a cheap set), but not overly heavy.
As soon as I saw the Straining Stockpot I knew that I needed it in my life. I can’t even begin to explain my frustration with the amount of unnecessary work that goes into making pasta. I mean there is the boiling part which is generally the easy part. Then you need to strain the pasta which means digging out my plastic strainer, partially burning myself on steam as I awkwardly pour out the pasta and water and then searching around for something to scrape up the pasta that got stuck to the bottom of the pot. Simply unnecessary, especially with this Straining Stockpot.
The Stockpot features Circulon’s Total non-stick system, which is a combination of a patented hi-low circular groove technology and a durable non-stick coating. The circular grooves basically reduce surface abrasions and provides exceptional food release capabilities; and it really works! Not even a single piece of pasta sticks to this pot, even without adding a dropping of oil!
When I first saw the grooves I was honestly a little bit terrified of clean-up time but not only was there nothing stuck to the pan to clean bu the little bit of starch in the pan when I went to wash dishes cleaned up like a dream. A very simple wash and dry and done. No soaking, no scrubbing, no hard work.
The strainer lid is basically a built in colander which lets you drain waster directly from the pot, eliminating the need for a separate colander. I love that the lid features a lock so that you can simply lock it and pour. This means no colander to clean, no food spilling all over the sink and it actually really helps with controlling water from splashing back up at you as you drain the pot. The lid also has large and small size holes to accommodate various sized foods.
Another favourite new cookware piece is the Circulon Prime Double Non-stick Roaster. This is a definite NEED-TO-HAVE for the coming season of Holiday dinners. I’m actually a little bit more excited to cook a giant Turkey than I usually am. Good luck to my husband who already has issues understanding the joy that the thought of all that Turkey gives me. He is actually suspicious of Turkey and insists its far too big a bird to actually eat. That is a story for another day though.
The roaster again features Circulon’s Total non-stick system and made from carbon steel with that beautiful red finish. It is incredibly perfect for both slow and quick roasting and during my testing it cooked everything evenly and perfectly.
All of that is great and all but… I am totally enamoured with the fact that you can cook with it closed or use the lid as a separate roaster to double your capacity. This means you can roast meat in the body and vegetables in the lid if you so wish. You could even cook a ham in the one pan and turkey in the other for your holiday dinner.
Now that I’ve been introduced to Circulons new Prime Collection Cookware I am simply just not satisfied with my current cookware set. These pieces are definitely worth the investment as they are very clearly durable and high quality. If you still aren’t sure, they all come with a brand promise and lifetime guarantee for a little extra piece of mind!
