This simple wire craft results in elegant wire butterfly bookmarks that will be the envy of all your book club buddies.
I love the beautiful simplicity of these bookmarks and they are fairly easy to make too, especially thanks to the included free printable template that will help you curve the wire into the right shape.
These would make really great gifts to give someone along with a book you know they will love. I don’t know about you, but that is the type of gift I would absolutely adore receiving!

Print out the butterfly pattern template or you can also trace the pattern on a piece of paper as per your choice of size. Grab the craft wire and create a twirl on its open end. To make this twirl use the top twirl pattern of the butterfly template as guide.
Trace the wire (leaving the twirl part) along the straight side of the butterfly template. Draw the wire upwards to form the wing part.
Trace the upper wing pattern with the wire.
Use the flat nose pliers to press the bend between the upper and lower wings. Draw and trace the wire along the lower wing pattern.
Draw the wire along the inner wing pattern.
Trace the wire along the outer circle of the inner twirl.
Leave enough wire to create a twirl pattern and cut off wire from the bundle.
Use the remaining wire to create the twirl pattern. Use a hammer to flatten the wire butterfly to give it a finished look.
