I love watching my kids get really engaged in pretend play – there is just something so innocent about the way they bring to life scenes from their imaginations. Dramatic play is an important way for kids to explore the world and I am always looking for new ways to help encourage this kind of play.
Suitables are environmentally friendly and recyclable costumes made from corrugated cardboard. My girls were abe to check out a couple of the costumes – we chose the Airplane and the Firetruck but there are many other fun options available including a bulldozer and Cinderella’s coach.
Suitables costumes do need to be assembled before they can be played with but assembly has been simplified with both written instructions as well as detailed assembly videos walking through the process. I have to admit I was a little intimidated upon opening the boxes, however the videos made it super easy to get through in a short amount of time.
After assembly, the one-size outfit fits most preschoolers to tweens. They both easily fit my 6 year old and 8 year old girls.
The details included in these costumes is amazing considering they are made from cardboard – the colours really make the designs pop. They even include a sound panel with each vehicle including real sounds to enhance imaginative play.
The costumes are very lightweight and include soft adjustable straps so kids can comfortably run around with the costumes on hands-free. Despite being made from cardboard they are surprisingly sturdy and well built. So far they have survived a couple weeks of moderately rough play and still look great.
The plane even includes a working propeller (including a back-up propeller should the first one get damaged during play) which is just so much fun!
The durability of the costumes paired with the fact that my kids run to put them on and play after school every day makes these costumes a a gift giving idea. If you are looking to expand your kids’ dramatic play collection then Suitables is a great gift idea.
Just in time for holiday giving, Suitables is offering free shipping on any of their 10 make-it/wear-it costumes. Purchase directly from Suitables from $34.99 USD.
