The chocolate cheesecake layers are smooth, light and rich. It’s the perfect no-bake cheesecake filling.

There is just something so incredible when you get a bite of the cheesecake with the sweet and tangy cherry pie filling paired with the satisfying crunch of the cookie crust.

Ingredients for the No-Bake Black Forest Cheesecake:

The cheesecake comes together in no time with simple ingredients.

Chocolate Cookie Crumbs – I used store bought, but you could also use a food processor to make your own from actual cookies.

Sugar – Plain old granulated sugar to sweeten up the crust a bit.

Butter – I recommend unsalted butter when baking as the salt content in butter can vary. If all you have is salted, omit the added salt from the recipe.

Cream cheese – Use full fat cream cheese to get the right flavour and texture. Light doesn’t work as well.

Powdered Sugar – You should sift your powdered sugar first to ensure the creamiest filling possible.

Sour Cream – Adds a bit more tang and authentic cheesecake flavour.

Vanilla Extract –  Use pure vanilla extract for the best flavour, but artificial is just fine too.

Bittersweet chocolate – You can swap semisweet here too, just use a pinch less powdered sugar. Dark chocolate, also a fab choice.

Maraschino cherries –  These are just for garnish but they are pretty tasty too. I would have liked them with the stems but you deal with what you can get.

Whipping cream – I used real whipping cream that I bagged and piped. It tends to hold up better than the prepared canned stuff.

Block of chocolate – You can use any block of chocolate for this. For shavings use a vegetable peeler on room temperature chocolate. For curls, melt your chocolate about 15 sec in a microwave then use the vegetable peeler.
