Go for Gold on The Farm with Hilary Caldwell

 screenshot3

Canadian chicken farmers work hard day in and day out to provide Canadians across the country with fresh, high quality chicken.  Their dedication to communities across the country goes beyond that which farming requires, they are also active members of their communities – on national and local levels.  Chicken Farmers of Canada is at work every day to make Canada an even better place to live.

Canadian chicken farmers are proud to be part of a stable industry that allows them the opportunity to reinvest with confidence in their farms and in their communities. One of the ways that chicken farmers in Canada give back is through their respective Provincial boards who regularly donate to food banks – both in kind and in cash. Chicken Farmers in Ontario alone donated 100,000 whole chickens to food banks across the province in 2015.

Another way Canadian chicken farmers give back to our larger community is through its partnership with Swimming Canada.  Swimming Canada relies on sponsors like Chicken Farmers of Canada to support their mission of promoting and supporting Canadian swimmers in their quest to achieve their dreams.

In addition to its official nutritional sponsorship, Chicken Farmers of Canada supports athletes directly all year-round.  As an example Chicken Farmers of Canada implemented an incentive program for medal-winning swimmers at the FINA world championship – and provided $1,000 to all 9 medal-winning swimmers in addition to another $1,000 donated to the food bank of each swimmers choice.

Recently Chicken Farmers of Canada released a brand new video featuring Olympic swimmer Hilary Caldwell and Canadian chicken farmer, Derek Janzen. The video demonstrates the dedication that farmer Derek has in helping Hilary achieve her very best and go for the gold.  It’s a fabulous and funny illustration of just how dedicated Chicken Farmers of Canada are when it comes to supporting Canadian athletes.

Isn’t it a great video?  You know, ‘The Farm’ is a humorous video but it comes with a serious message to take away.  Engaged citizens, like Canada’s chicken farmers, are critical to the support of Canadian swimming. So when you see our Canadian swimmers on the podium after a competition – think about the supporters, like our chicken farmers, that helped get them there!

Next time you are at the grocery store, be sure that the chicken you buy is Canadian by looking for the Raised by a Canadian farmer mark.  If your store doesn’t stock the “Raised by a Canadian Farmer” brand, you can ask them to!  When you buy Raised by a Canadian branded chicken, you will know that you are buying fresh, safe, high quality Canadian chicken and supporting hard working, civic-minded Canadians.
