Boba Carrier 3G Review & Giveaway

boba_inc_logo_main

With baby number 2 on the way and Keira still so little I’ve been going over my options as far as transportation.  While a tandem stroller is an obvious choice, I already have a collection of single strollers that I love and would like to continue to use whenever possible.  This is where a baby carrier comes in.  I did babywear Keira occasionally until I found out I was pregnant so it is something I am already more than comfortable with.  There is just nothing more snuggly than carrying your baby around so close to you!

The Boba Carrier 3G has been on my “want” list for awhile but now that I need a carrier that will work from newborn to Toddler and something sturdy enough for everyday use it got bumped up to my “need” list.  Happily I was given the opportunity to review the Boba Carrier 3G in Tweet with Keira.  Well, actually, I had my sister do the testing for me with Keira as I am pretty sure that a review of a carrier while heavily pregnant wouldn’t be completely fair.

The Boba carrier 3G is a soft structured baby carrier which has been designed for use with both babies and toddlers between 7 to 45 lbs.  I love that I will be able to use the Boba with my newborn when she arrives without having to purchase a special insert and with only minimal adjustment to convert it for use with her.   This way I can easily switch between carrying Keira and baby #2 without a lot of hassle.  It also allows for front or back carry with virtually no adjustment necessary to do so.

It also is available in 7 different to-die-for patterns and solid colour combinations so you can be sure to find one to suit your personal style.

Boba Carrier 3G in Tweet

My sister really prefers the front carry with Keira, she finds it more comfortable, and a little bit easier to get Keira in by herself.  She also enjoys the extra communication and bonding that the front carry allows for, although perhaps not so much the parts where Keira decides its hilarious to keep ripping her glasses off.  Personally, I think I would prefer the back carry with Keira as it allows for more freedom for my arms.

The great thing about the Boba Carrier 3G is that thanks to its ergonomic design, it is able to distribute the weight across the shoulders and waist.  This provides the needed support so that the adult wearing the carrier does not end up with a backache and also ensures that baby is comfortable and kept in a healthy sitting position.

As you can see in the pictures of Keira in the Boba, there is ample leg support which is what you want in a carrier.  The more leg support provided by the carrier, the less pressure absorbed by your childs spine and hamstrings.  It also ensures complete blood flow throughout their legs and proper alignment of the spine.  You do not want a carrier that allows your child to dangle by the crotch.  This is one of the reasons I was already looking at a Boba 3G.

The seat-back is also very high and curves naturally to provide extra support and comfort.  It is also reassuring to know that little miss wriggles can’t actually manage to fall out of the carrier.

Boba Carrier 3G in Tweet

The Boba Carrier 3G comes with removable foot straps which attach to the waist belt to keep toddlers comfortable while promoting a healthy sitting position.   It also comes with a really handy removable hood that covers the baby’s head when sleeping.   I would imagine it would also work great as a cover for breastfeeding, but I won’t be able to test that out specifically until baby #2 arrives.  It would also make a really great shade on sunny days!  When not in use, the hood rolls up and zips inside a pocket on the front of the carrier.

There are a few storage pockets on the front of the carrier but honestly they are very small.  This is possibly the one downside to the carrier, although I can fit in the necessities – phones, keys on a small chain, and my bank card.   You can fit more if you go without the hood altogether and use the hood storage as a pocket.  More storage included in the carrier itself would be nice although this might be hard to do without making it look bulky and take away from the trim look it has.

 Boba Carrier 3G in Tweet
That said, Boba has provided an answer to this problem in the shoulder strap holders which keep your purse or diaper bag in place!    You just snap the strap holder in place over the strap of your handbag and you are set to go!  It will not slide around or fall off your arm which makes the Boba 3G ideal for shopping trips.  I think this is one of my favourite features of the Boba Carrier 3G as it really allows you to be hands-free!
