Coming June 2nd,  Tomorrow is a Chance to Start Over by Hilary Grist is the latest addition to The Secret Mountain’s catalog of stellar book and music combos. 

Ira and Isabelle, who live in a little red house by the sea, decide one night to escape the sound of the city’s beeping cars and sail off to a faraway land where they learn from a newly-made friend, a robin with a soft voice, that dreams really can come true.  In addition to the narrated story, the CD offers nine original heartwarming dream songs followed by an ethereal rendition of Johanne Brahms’ classic Cradle Song.

It’s truly incredible that this is the work of one talented artist.  Hilary Grist wrote the story, created the clay characters and performs her own original songs.  Everything from the colours on the pages, to the smooth flow of the text to the ethereal music creates an atmosphere of relaxation and sleepiness.  It all comes together to create a perfect bedtime experience for little ones.

Keira is pretty attached to her night time music – she has been listening to the same CD every single night since she was about one and I discovered she slept easier with it playing.  She did like this CD enough that she asks to switch it up with her old favourite every now and then.  It’s really quite a nice collection of songs.
