This Red Velvet Trifle is a super easy dessert recipe perfect for dinner parties, picnics and just because. A great way to celebrate Canada Day Too!

I’ve always heard people say that we Canadians tend to celebrate our national pride on a daily basis in a more understated manner than our neighbours to the south.   You know what I think?  I think that is nothing but a big, fat, lie.  While we tend to rock the red and white the most on Canada Day, I see Canadians everywhere display the maple leaf with a certain patriotic swagger; and I love it!
Canada Day is a great opportunity though to get creative, whether that be a Canada Day craft or a tasty patriotic dish like this Red Velvet Trifle.  Of ciourse, this Red Velvet Trifle is perfect for more than just Canada Day.  You could bring it unassembled to a picnic, potluck or barbecue and quickly throw them together in mason jars to enjoy.  That’s the beauty of this dessert, it’s so easy to throw together but its visually stunning and a real delicious treat to boot.

What makes it so easy is ditching the stand mixer for Gay Lea’s Real Whipped Cream which, just like your homemade recipe,  is made with real cream.  It’s nut-free which makes it great for get-togethers where there may be children with allergies and since its Kosher and Halal certified, everyone in your group can enjoy it.  Just shake and spray!

I used 250 mL mason jars for this but you could use parfait glasses, larger mason jars etc..  Take your cake cubes and pack them into the button of your serving container.

Next is a layer of delicious fresh strawberries.  You can never have too many strawberries, so don’t be stingy.

If you are using larger containers you can layer more cake on top at this point, or if you are running out of space, simply top the whipped cream with more strawberries.

There you have it, a gorgeous red velvet trifle.  Don’t you just love the pretty red and white layers?
