If you’ve ever caught Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network then I am sure you are familiar with celebrity chef Guy Fieri and his big personality. If you drool over his show, you can now drool over it while sipping on Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Roasts coffee line. Flavortown Roasts are available in eight one-of-a-kind coffee varieties with their own huge personalities in Keurig-compatible single-serve coffee cups.
The line ranges from pure dark roasted coffee to the sweet and mellow but all feature big bold flavours. The varieties currently available are: Bananas Foster, Caramel Apple Bread Pudding, Chocolate Mint, Guy’s American Diner Blend, Hazelnut Cinnamon Roll, Hot Fudge Brownie, Redwood Roast and Unleaded Decaf.
I was sent a selection of coffee from the Guy Fieri Flavortown Roasts coffee line including all but the Caramel Apple Bread Pudding and the Unleaded Decaf.
Bananas Foster: Sweet banana, caramelized sugar and cinnamon flavors brings me back to my days as a flambé captain!
This one has a sweet but mellow banana flavour. It does seem to be a lighter roast but the scent as it brews is amazing!
Chocolate Mint: The rich and creamy taste of chocolate and cool, fresh mint is perfect any time of year.
I have to admit that this one wasn’t my favourite but mostly because I couldn’t get over mint with coffee. I love mint chocolate. I really do. I just don’t like Mint Tea and this was slightly reminiscent of that. My husband on the other hand loves this blend and thought I was crazy for saying it wasn’t my favourite.
Guys American Diner Blend: One thing you know about a diner is that they’ve got a great cup o’ joe … so here you go!
This is a nice blend reminiscent of what you might find in a diner. I love that it isn’t very bitter and goes down smoothly.
Hazelnut Cinnamon Roll: Toasted hazelnut and big cinnamon flavors make this brew dessert in a mug.
I tried this one black first as that is how I drink my coffee and didn’t really get it. The next time I drank it with a little milk and sugar and it was a completely different experience. I am not sure why or how but the milk and sugar really bring out the bold flavours in this coffee and it went from my least favourite to being tied with Hot Fudge Brownie for most favourite.
Hot Fudge Brownie: My chocolate on chocolate Hot Fudge Brownie coffee comes to you straight from Flavortown!
Chocolate. Need I say more? This has all the flavour of a mocha without the hassle of actually making one.
Redwood Roast: Big, bold and strong like the mighty redwoods, this French roast will get your engine started.
This one has a stronger flavour than the Diner blend but it is still quite nice.
The descriptions of the other two
Unleaded Decaf: Full of rich medium roast flavor, just packin’ a little less horsepower.
Caramel Apple Bread Pudding: All the flavor from my righteous Caramel Apple Bread Pudding stuffed into your mug.
*Works with Keurig brewing systems. Not compatible with Keurig Vue or Keurig 2.0 coffee makers.
