Green Chile & Cheddar Bread
Ingredients:
1 cup warm water
1 1/2 teaspoons instant yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 Tablespoon salt
2-4oz diced green chiles, drained well
1 cup white cheddar cheese
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the warm water, instant yeast and sugar. Let proof for 5 minutes until foamy.
In a small bowl, combine 2 cups of the flour with the salt and then stir into the water mixture.
Add the green chiles and white cheddar and stir or knead just enough to incorporate into the dough.
Ensure there are no dry patches in the dough, cover with plastic wrap and a clean kitchen towel and place in a warm spot in your kitchen for 2 hours.
Line a baking stone or cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Carefully remove the dough from your bowl and shape into a loaf – avoiding overworking it too much.
Place the shaped loaf on your baking stone and let rest for 30-45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 450F
Bake the loaf for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and a solid crust has formed.
