Koala Plushie

List of Supplies:

  1. Felt fabrics
  2. Pencil or fabric marker pen
  3. Scissors
  4. Needle and thread
  5. Cotton or scrap felt

Instructions:

Step 1

Prepare the patterns by printing and cutting them out from the koala bear template. Select felt fabrics for the koala plushie and trace the patterns on the selected felts. Cut out the traced felts using scissors.

Step 2

Place the individual hand cutouts on the hand patterns of the main body. Stitch them all around the open sides. Stitch the inner ear cutouts on the ear patterns of the main body. Stitch the inner belly pattern on the middle of the main belly pattern. Now stitch the nose and eyes on the big round cutout (the head). The template does not include eye cut outs. You can simply cut out 2 same sized round shapes from black or any coloured felt you like.

Step 3

You can use cotton or scrap felt for stuffing the plushie. A great way to use all those scrap felt is to cut them into small pieces and use them for plushie stuffing.

Step 4

Stuff the 2 hands of the koala through the open ends.

Step 5

After the hands are stuffed, place the belly pattern on the belly part of the main body cutout. Stitch around the open sides, keeping the top side intact and stitching the sides overlapped with the hands.

Step 6

Once the belly parts are stitched, stuff it with the scrap felt through the open end.

Step 7

Finally, place the head cut out over the head part of the main body. Stitch around the open sides and also stitch the sides overlapped with the top side of the belly. Before stitching the overlapped side, make sure to stuff the head through that end.

Stitch to close the open end and secure the stuffing.  Tie a knot or two and then cut off extra thread.

  1. My 9 year old loves this, but we can’t find the link to the pattern. Could you let me know where to find it on the page or email it?

    THANK YOU!

  2. I can not get the pattern to come up on my computer. It says the site can’t be reached. It is soooo cute and I would love to make it. Can’t make my own pattern though. I am not talented enough!

  3. I love your creations but your website is so full of ads you can’t even read it without trying to dodge the popups. Maybe that’s how you make money – but nothing, even free, is worth 20 minutes of avoiding ads just to read what you have to say.

    1. Hi Telva, I’ll be honest, I got a little upset when I read your comment so have taken awhile to respond.

Yes, this is how I make money and support my family. So I do need to run ads on the site, especially with the rising cost of living here. However, I do aim to hit a good balance between a decent income and user experience. I have opted out of all the most obtrusive ads like pop ups, page take overs, ads over images etc…

When I look through my site, there are more ads than usual, because of the season of year it is, but I do not see anything obtrusive enough that it would irk me as much as it has obviously irked you. That said, I realise that living in Canada, I may not be presented with the same ads, or even the same amount of ads as an American. (Assuming you are American.)

So I apologise for that, it’s not my goal to inundate anyone with a load of advertising. If you could send me screen shots of what you are seeing that may help me out – info@frugalmomeh.com.
