Pecan Crescents

  The recipe for these buttery, melt-in-your-mouth pecan crescent cookies has been in my family for years. In fact these old-fashioned pecan cookies were one of my favourite Christmas cookies as a child, and they still are.

Pecan Crescents

Yields Approx. 52 Cookies

Ingredients:

1 Cup Butter, Room Temperature
5 Tbsp Sugar (+ 1/2 Cup for rolling cookies in)
2 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 Tbsp  Cold Water
2 Cups Flour
1/4 tsp Salt
2 Cups Pecans, Chopped finely

 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

Cream butter in a large bowl then mix in sugar, vanilla extract and water until well combined.

Sift in flour and salt and stir into mixture.

Add pecans and mix thoroughly.

Scoop out tbsp pieces of dough and shape into small logs, then bend slightly at both ends to form a crescent shape.

Roll cookies in granulated sugar and place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until bottoms just turn golden.

Remove from oven and transfer to a cooling rack.

Once cool store in an airtight container.

  1. I think the last time I had these is when I was young, my grandmother made them and they were sooooo good, I am going to have to make some up and remember the good ole days!!

  2. I can see why you like them so much we made a batch on Christmas Eve and they were gone before the night was over,everyone really enjoyed them .

  3. These sound very similar to ones that we make for Christmas, though we don’t use pecans but because of the pecans I know that my sister-in-law would absolutely love these more 🙂
