Things Every Boy Mom Will Understand

If you have a son in your life, you know how special boys are. They bring something unique to your family. In addition to gross conversations, a love of creepy crawly things, and an innate ability to skin their knees and elbows, boys also bring out the best in us. Here are a few things that every boy mom will understand.
They’re Gross
Boys are gross. They enjoy talking about farts and burps and love to challenge each other to nose picking contests. It doesn’t bother them that their feet smell or that boogers shouldn’t be picked. They’re gross and they love it.
They’re Dirty
Boys also have a talent for getting dirty. Without fail, as soon as you have them change into a new shirt or a fresh pair of white socks, they somehow trip and fall into a mud puddle. There could be nothing “dirty” around but your son will somehow find a way to make a smear of mud appear on his cheek.
They’re Fearless
Boys are fearless. I’m reminded of this every time my son climbs into a tree or jumps from a swing. Boys don’t think about getting hurt or skinning their knees. They just do what they think will be fun and adventurous.
They’re Protective
Boys are extremely protective of those they love. If a neighborhood child pushes around your son’s friend or sibling, you’ll see how quickly your boy is to defend his loved one. Boys are also protective of their moms. They’re the first ones to jump in and defend their moms if dad is tickling her.
Despite the gross things boys do, if you’re a boy mom, you know how lucky you truly are. Boys are a special gift to any family and boy moms understand exactly how special they are.

As a mom of only boys, I truly relate to this post. I always thought I wanted girls, but being blessed with boys has changed my perpective so much.
I remember all of this from when my brother was a youngster. He’s always been particular about how he looks though. He definitely gets that from my dad and my papa.
“Boys are fearless. I’m reminded of this every time my son climbs into a tree or jumps from a swing. Boys don’t think about getting hurt or skinning their knees. They just do what they think will be fun and adventurous.” This applies very well to one of my grandsons. No thought to the consequences when he hangs a skipping rope around his neck loosely and then goes down the slide – had a nasty rope burn on his neck from that. Or standing at the top of the slide and doing a backflip at the age of 4!
