While the odds of flipping a coin are easy to work out, calculating the odds of your child becoming the next US President are a little more difficult. However, Ladbrokes have done some research and they have the answers to some of the most unbelievable odds ever, so let’s take a look at some of the strangest.
Unbelievable Odds: Winning the Lottery – 1 in 14 million
You have to be in it to win it so they say, and this advice certainly rings true when it comes to winning the lottery. You can improve your chances of winning by playing the lottery regularly but with odds of 1 in 14 million, you are more likely going to date a supermodel (1 in 88,000) or become a professional athlete (1 in 22,000).
Unbelievable Odds: Find a Pearl in an Oyster – 1 in 12,000
These odds are surprisingly high, at least compared to winning the lottery, but to stand any chance of finding a pearl in an oyster; you will have to at least be looking for one. If you go diving or fishing your chances will be increased but it is more likely that you will find a four leaf clover with odds of 1 in 10,000.
Unbelievable Odds: Becoming US President – 1 in 10,000,000
You can only become a US President if you are involved in politics, so to increase your chances, you need to establish a long career in politics first. However, when you take into account that the president is elected into office every four years and could serve two terms, the odds aren’t as bad as they may seem at first glance.
Unbelievable Odds: Becoming a Film Star – 1 in 1,505,000
Have you ever fancied your child as the next Brad Pitt? Well the chances of them becoming a famous film actor or actress are fairly low at 1 in 1,505,000 but strangely, the odds of winning an Oscar are better at 1 in 11,500. Who needs to be a successful film star when you have an Oscar to admire on the mantelpiece?
While most of us will never know what it feels like to win an Oscar or to become a UFC Heavyweight Champion, we can now at least work out the chances of something bizarre and unlikely happening to us.
