When I think back to some of my earliest memories, some of my most favourite toys were Playskool toys. You honestly couldn’t separate me from my blue Snugglebumm. I carried him everywhere with me for the longest time. I honestly should dig him out and share him with you, I know the other 80s kids would get a real kick out of it. Then there was the Barrel of Monkeys, Mr. Potato head and my Gloworm. My mom even dug out my brothers nearly 20 year old Playskool tape recorder to play Keira some music this summer… and it still worked!
Keira is almost 8 months adjusted now but over 10 months actual so it can be difficult to determine if she has hit the age recommendation on toys. I think an actual 10 month old would have picked up faster and jumped in on playing without having to be shown as much what to do.
That said, and I really wish I caught it on video, but shortly after this she picked up one of the balls and tried to put it in the lion’s mouth herself. She just barely missed getting in, so I think with a little practice she will get it. I love that this toy will so clearly help her develop her fine motor skills. Keep in mind that she is about the size of a 3 month old but still easily handles the balls in her little hands so size is not an issue with this toy.
When I was playing with the Lion I could tell it was really durable and could take a beating which is so important with toddler toys. Toddler’s can be especially rough and enjoy throwing things around so having toys that can take the occasional bump is something I really look for.
I also really love that it gives her early exposure to not only counting but to counting in other languages all while she is being stimulated by music and lights. How smart is that?
Playskool, you do not disappoint! After just a single day of play, the Poppin’ Park Learn ‘N Pop Lion has become a staple during playtime for us. I just know this cute little Lion will be among her early memories, just as so many awesome Playskool toys were a part of mine!
I would definitely recommend the Poppin’ Park Learn ‘N Pop Lion as an awesome Christmas, Birthday or “just because” gift for the special little girl or boy in your life.
The Poppin’ Park Learn ‘N Pop Lion is available at Toys R’ Us for only $29.99 (CAD) – and yes my American friends, it is available in the USA as well!

Keira is doing so well (adjusted or not). It looks like this toy will be a real help in her development. Lights and music are fabulous!
