Family Camping in Ontario with Carefree RV Resorts

Last Updated on February 5, 2021

Summer seems to be quickly on it’s way in and personally I am hoping for a hot one!

We’re already planning our summer vacation and thinking about what we want to do with the girls this year.  Top on that list is family camping in Ontario!

Growing up I spent most of my summer camping across family camping in Ontario and its a tradition I would like to carry on.  There was nothing like falling asleep to the whisper of the leaves in the wind across the forest or spending the day sun-bathing and building sand castles at the beach.  These days though, it’s a wonderful opportunity to force myself to unplug and just enjoy life, create new memories with my family and relax.

Looking into my options for family camping in Ontario I stumbled upon Carefree RV Resorts.  Now we don’t own an RV but Carefree RV Resorts actually offer rentals including rustic cabins and vacation cottages which is perfect for us.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind tent camping myself, but throw in two little ones and I don’t see too much rest or relaxation going on.  A cabin or a cottage sounds like the perfect solution for carefree family camping to me.

You can find 15 Carefree RV Resorts scattered all across Ontario so there is sure to be one near your ideal destination for family camping in Ontario.

On the beautiful sandy shores of Lake Erie, Sherkston Shores resort offers 560 acres of beautiful landscape, topped off with two and a half miles of sandy beachfront. Keep yourself busy with pools, waterslides, splash pad and a quarry stocked with fish. Just 90 minutes away from the Greater Toronto Area and mere minutes away from the US border, Sherkston Shores is a fabulous vacation alternative that offers so much more. RV sites, rustic cabins and a range of vacation cottages are available for rent.

Located just 20 miles of both Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan — Willowood is a top destination for both U.S. and Canadian families. We have 329 RV sites with fire rings as well as cabin and park model rentals available.

Willowood family-friendly grounds feature a playground, horseshoe pits, sand volleyball courts, an outdoor movie theater and miniature golf course. Our guests keep cool relaxing and swimming in our large pool, our kiddie pool and our splash pad area. There’s even an arcade room to entertain the kids on rainy days. We also pride ourselves on providing a whirlwind social calendar that includes story time, chocolate bar bingo, crafts, potlucks, dances and movies. 1. While we are not a camping family, I can totally see where families who love to camp would have a blst there.

  2. RV’ing would be so fun! I would love to go one day, with my whole family! I think it would be a HUGE blast! Also Ontario is amazing, of course! Would love to go across Ontario checking it all out!

  3. This looks like a great place to spend a vacation. This would be my way to camp. I am too old for the tent anymore. I would love to take a RV trip too.

  4. That’s a great destination for summer vacationing! We are talking about ours, we haven’t decided what to do yet.

  5. I would love to get an RV and go camping. I will have to look at my options for this summer.

  6. Tent camping was fine before kids, but now I would require an RV or cottage or something!

  7. Both my children, who live in AB, always go camping together at least once a year with their children – one has an RV and the other a tent. The kids thoroughly enjoy themselves with each other and their parents get a bit more peace too 🙂
