Strawberry Watermelon Ice Pops
A simple recipe for strawberry watermelon ice pops for when you want a refreshing treat to keep your family cool on hot summer days.
These Strawberry Watermelon Ice Pops are made with only three simple ingredients. Whole fresh fruit are all that is needed to make these cool and sweet summer treats.
How long do I need to Freeze these Ice Pops?
It will take at least 6 hours to freeze these ice pops. Freezing overnight is your best bet, and will give you something to look forward to the next day!
How to Unmould an ice pop
The best way to remove the ice pops is to run the bottom 2/3 of the mould under warm water for about a minute.
You will want to carefully pull on the stick to remove the pops from the mould, when ready they will come out pretty easily.
Can I Make Freezies with this Recipe?
Yes! You will need to buy freezie pouches – either disposable or reusable along with a funnel.
Use the funnel to fill the moulds with the fruit mixture and then freeze on a sheet pan in your freezer laying each pouch flat.
How long do ice pops last in the freezer?
All fruit ice pops can last up to six months in the freezer if properly stored.
Don’t worry though, I doubt they will last that long!
How do you make ice pops without a mould?
If you don’t have a mould, you can use plastic cups instead. Pour the liquid ice pop mix into your cups, cover each with tin foil and poke it through with a wooden stick, then freeze overnight.
Equipment needed to make Ice Pops
Molds – This is the silicone mold set that I purchased, I like the silicone molds because they are easier to deal with and won’t crack like plastic molds.
Wooden sticks – The above set comes with a few but you will want to buy more food grade wooden sticks.
Ingredients for Strawberry Watermelon Ice Pops
Watermelon – This is a great way to use up a huge watermelon or for those times when it doesn’t taste that great.
Strawberries – Fresh, in season, local strawberries are best. Your next best bet is frozen strawberries, thawed so the mixture isn’t too thick.
Lime – The zest and juice helps to freshen things up more and balance out all the sweetness.
