This simple Paper Bag Utensil Pocket is a wonderful addition to not only your Thanksgiving Table but any time throughout the year with a few simple changes, a great way to bring a casual yet festive feel to your table for your guests. So simple to make, you can use your sewing machine or sew by hand to dress up paper bags and add a touch of seasonal colour. Write on the bags with a felt tip pen in a pretty handwriting and they become place cards as well.
Supplies Needed:
Paper bag
silk flowers
rafia
sewing machine/thread
glue gun/sticks
Directions:
Fold the bottom 3 ½” of paper bag up so that the actual bottom of the bag is inside your “pocket” press a crease firmly across the bottom so it stays in place.
Sew a seam from bottom corner of bag to top corner of pocket, trim excess thread.
Repeat on the opposite side.
Cut off a small bunch of silk flowers from a larger arrangement and tie a bow around them with raffia, trim off excess.
Use glue gun to attach bunch to the center of pocket securely.
Slip silverware into pocket to make a pretty place setting for dinner.
