DVD Review: Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away

I have to admit that I’ve never actually seen Cirque du Soleil.  I had the chance to see a show when I was in high school but didn’t know what it was and went to see a rather forgettable play instead.  Grrr!
When I received Cirque du Soleil: World’s Away on Blu Ray I immediately prepared myself for a girls night in to watch it.  Honestly I was really excited as I didn’t know what to expect but I have only ever heard good things about the Cirque du Soleil live shows.  Getting settled in to watch the movie was made a whole lot easier thanks to the amazing viewing package I was sent including The Beatles LOVE on CD.

Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away

From the big top to the big screen, visionary filmmaker James Cameron and director Andrew Adamson (Shrek, Narnia) invite you and your family on an all new 3D adventure: Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away. A young couple who is separated, must journey through the astonishing and dreamlike worlds of Cirque du Soleil to find each other, as audiences experience the immersive 3D technology that will allow them to leap, soar, swim, and dance with the performers.

The movie begins with a young girl at a carnival coming face to face with a handsome acrobat.  When he falls during his act in the circus tent and falls through the ground she follows and is carried into a dreamlike world.  The plot reminded me strongly of Alice in Wonderland chasing after that rabbit.  The girl journeys through various worlds full of scenes too astonishing, fascinating and beautiful for words.

Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away

The movie is really carried by the wonderful soundtrack, the latter part of the movie is full of a great selection of Beatles songs.   This is one movie that you shouldn’t miss – no matter what your preconception of Cirque du Soleil is.  I found myself really regretting having turned down the chance to see Cirque du Soleil live!

Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away is perfect for anyone who has ever wanted to see Cirque du Soleil but has been unable to due to cost, location or circumstance.   You will be absolutely blown away and mesmerized by this movie!
