My girls are big fans of BABY Born dolls. They play with them constantly and love role playing as Mommies to their dolls. We were sent the new BABY Born Surprise Mermaid Surprise doll, and Keira and Ava just couldn’t wait to open it up and play with her.
BABY born Surprise Mermaid Surprise features 20+ magical surprises including a large seashell bathtub.
She is a normal sized baby doll with huge brown eyes and a colourful seashell headband.
Inside the box upon opening you will find the mermaid surprise doll wrapped up in a fuzzy mermaid towel. Ours has beautiful, huge brown eyes and a colourful seashell headband with a purple and teal mermaid tail towel.
We also found 2 diapers, a charm bracelet, a pink bottle and a starfish.
The girls couldn’t wait to get the Mermaid Surprise doll into a bath so we put some water in the tub to throw the starfish into. The starfish dissolves in water to reveal two charms and a bathing suit.
Her bathing suit is pink and shiny with purple bow and ruffle details. It’s super cute.
Next we filled the tub with water to give her a bath in her bathing suit.
The instructions say that ice water will reveal her colour change hair.
This is the one point we were disappointed with. Regular cold water from the tap does nothing and even ice water changed her hair colour to a pink matching her swim suit for only seconds before reverting back.
I would have liked to see the hair change in warm water so it would change in the bath without having to make special water for a few seconds of fun.
After her bath, Ava dried her off well and got her out of her bathing suit into one of her diapers.
She then fed the baby water from her bottle. The baby does “drink” real water and will leak into the diaper. Each diaper reveals another cute charm for the charm bracelet when the baby doll wets them.
Overall the girls really adore the Baby Born Surprise Mermaid Surprise doll and I would highly recommend this one. Her surprises make the unboxing process a lot of fun and she still offers a lot of value in regular play after the unboxing is over, even if the colour changing hair didn’t live up to expectations.
Her accessories, especially the towel, is really great quality compared to accessories from other similar dolls.
The mermaid theme is really cute, and definitely part of what will make her a big hit under the tree this Holiday season.
