There are many things to do in Grand Cayman. However, in this article, Top 3 Things To Do In Grand Cayman, we will show the three most popular attractions. If you only have time to see a few spots, then these are three must do excursions you won’t want to miss.

Smith Cove

Smith Cove is a beach in Grand Cayman with an iron-shore on either side of the beach creating a cove – which is why it is called “Smith Cove”.

There is great snorkeling here, and also free beach access. All beaches in the Cayman Islands are free to use.

The sea is calm here 95% of the time; the prevailing wind comes from behind the land, meaning that waves can’t be formed.

There are public bbq spots here too, as well as public restrooms and showers. This is a nice area to spend a few hours with friends and family. It is also located close to most hotels, making it easy to get to.

Smith Cove is very safe for tourists to visit. You can relax here without having to worry about any security issues. The Cayman Islands is one of the safest places in the Caribbean, which is why so many families love to vacation here.

Wreck of the Gamma

The Wreck of the Gamma is a shipwreck off of Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman. There aren’t many things to do in Grand Cayman 7 Mile Beach, but this one makes the trip worthwhile.

The snorkeling here is very good; it’s a unique experience because most people never get the opportunity to snorkel at a shipwreck.

The wreck is only about 20 yards off the beach, making it easy to get to. Also, there is little boat traffic here, ensuring that it is a safe area to snorkel at.

You will see a wide variety of fish whilst snorkeling here, such as snappers, jacks and sergeant majors. You may also see other marine life such as turtles and lobsters. Most snorkeling spots are far off-shore, and require a boat to reach; but the wreck of the gamma is much closer to shore.

There are also other shipwrecks in the Cayman Islands, such as the wreck of the cali and the kittiwake, but they are not as good as the Wreck of the Gamma.

There is lots of parking in the area, allowing people to drive themselves. Also, there is a Caribbean bakery called “Captain’s Bakery” next to the shipwreck, where you can have lunch.

Macabuca

Macabuca has slowly become one of Cayman’s best snorkel spots.

This is a restaurant/bar on the water, that also has great snorkeling. Many people enjoy visiting here in the morning, and then eating lunch after snorkeling.

There is also a dive company here, so you can scuba dive instead of snorkeling if you prefer. The water here is only about 15 to 20 feet deep, so if you snorkel, you can still see all of the marine life.

It is about a 10 minute drive from most hotels in Grand Cayman, making this a convenient location.

This is also a nice spot just for lunch.

Across the street from Macabuca is the “Turtle Farm”; after snorkeling at Macabuca, you can spend an hour looking at the turtles.

When snorkeling at Macabuca, you will see a wide variety of coral species and other marine life. It is rare to find this level of marine diversity so close to shore. This is why it is so popular among both divers and snorkelers.
