A pantry can be a crucial part to any kitchen. The truth is, it is meant to add organization, storage options and ease of access to the place you make meal magic happen.

The problem is, that your pantry can become incredibly disorganized if it’s not taken care of properly. It doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive to keep your pantry functional, you just have to put a plan into action.

How to Organize your Pantry on a Budget

Plastic bins: Plastic bins found at your local dollar store can transform your pantry from chaos to bliss in a matter of 10 minutes. Divide your pantry up based on meals for the week (one of my personal favorites). Mark each bin for a designated day of the week and toss in your ingredients. Not only does this organize your pantry, but it organizes your meals for the week.

Utilize your muffin tins: Muffin tins are inexpensive and durable. A nice way to organize spices or small items in your pantry would be to put each container in its own muffin spot. This prevents your spices from falling and getting lost in the chaos.

Get more from your cereal bins: Cereal bins aren’t just great for storing cereal; they are great for storing anything in a box. Use them for extra spaghetti, linguine, fettuccini and pasta noodles. Use them for flour, sugar and coffee. Not only do they keep your food fresh, but they save space in your pantry offering you more for less, and they are often stackable.

Keep boxes: Boxes from your local grocery store can come in handy when it comes to organizing your pantry on a budget. If you don’t have a lot of money to put into buying plastic bins or cereal bins, most grocery stores will give you boxes for free. Canned good boxes come in handy for organizing your own canned goods but can also help stabilize pasta boxes. Shoe boxes can be just as beneficial for creating a meal plan as a plastic bin.

Hanging Racks: Use hanging racks or baskets to store important items in your pantry. A hanging shoe storage compartment can be a great place to store spices, canned goods and more and can be hung on the back of your pantry door. Baskets can be hung under shelves to create more space for storing things like cereal, rice or even chips.

There are many ways to organize your pantry without having to break the bank. Having an organized pantry is incredibly beneficial to many aspects of your life. It will make cooking easier, navigating your kitchen a breeze and even creating a shopping list less fuss.
