The Best Rides & Attractions for Toddlers and Preschoolers at Magic Kingdom

The Best Rides & Attractions for Toddlers and Preschoolers at Magic Kingdom

Of all the Disney Parks, I think that the Magic Kingdom has the most to offer to smaller children. There are a ton of fun, bright rides with no height or age requirements at all. The majority of the rides are family friendly at the Magic Kingdom but some are especially geared towards smaller children, these are my favourites for small children:

Dumbo

My personal favorite thing about this ride is that instead of standing in the hot sun waiting for 30 or 40 minutes you walk indoors, give the # of people in your party, and they will hand you a pager. You take your pager and go sit, in blissful air conditioning while the bigger kids play in a netted climbing, sliding play area and 2’s and 3’s have a special area just for them…it’s wonderful! When your pager goes off it’s just a short line to get right on the ride.

It’s a Small World

Classic Disney World this ride is a must when visiting the park. Since it’s a high capacity ride even if the lines are long it moves fairly well. This is a great, quiet, relaxing ride and one of my favorites with little ones. You get a chance to rest your feet and cool down while everyone enjoys the gentle boat ride tour of various countries.

The Many Adventures Winnie the Pooh

You can’t have a ride list for toddlers and preschoolers without mentioning that sweet chubby yellow guy-Winnie the Pooh. With sweet characters and scenes that looked like they just tumbled out of the pages of the book you and your little ones will delight in this ride!

The Little Mermaid

This ride is not just for little girls though you might think so. It is a fun journey through the ocean with Ariel, Eric, Flounder, Sebastian, KIng Triton, and YIKES Ursula. Familiar music and characters make it a sweet ride but even still little ones might find Ursula a bite frightening so be prepared.

Peter Pan

This ride is magical and one of my favourites! You lift off in a little boat and sail right over Nana, London, Captain Hook and more with a little bit of fairy dust. You truly feel like you have been transported into one of your favourite movies in this ride!

Tea Cups

While you may want to avoid the heavy spinning with smaller kids. the whirling twirling teacups are a lot of fun for kids and grown ups alike. Themed after Alice in Wonderland the colorful cups move as whole as well as individually when you turn the centre wheel you control the speed.

Tiki Room

Not so much a ride as it is an attraction the Tiki Room is located in Adventureland. A fun sit down musical show where the birds (and flowers) entertain will have your kids squealing with delight and they will be heard singing “In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room, In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room” throughout the rest of the day.

Buzz Lightyear

This ride is a little louder and a little brighter than most so take that into consideration if you have a sensitive little one. Shoot at Zurg and other targets as you move through this ride in a space car outfitted with two blasters. Black lights and neon paint make this ride electric.

Prince Charming Regal Carousel

The simple classic carousel becomes magic when it’s planted right in the center of Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom. Night or day this Cinderella themed ride is a hit with kids of all ages.
