When I got my first bank account I was given a bank book to keep track of my transactions. Remember those? Going to the bank meant heading to a station and filling out transaction slips before getting in line to see a teller. Then Interac cards arrived and suddenly you no longer had to rush to your branch before it closed to get money out. Super convenient right?
I have to tell you though, online and mobile banking was an even bigger game changer. You no longer need to physically walk into a bank to get your banking done when it comes to most common banking transactions.
Using apps and online tools can help save time in your daily life. Even your banking – at home or on the go. Scotiabank’s online and mobile banking can help you pay bills, deposit cheques, check balances and more with your smartphone or computer.
As a mother of two young girls running a business from home, I really appreciate the time saved by not having to head to the bank because of online and mobile banking. I often get paid by cheque, and if it weren’t for services like Mobile Deposit, I’d have to make a trip to the bank fairly often with my two little ones in tow. Anyone who has kids knows that can make any experience difficult.
I also handle our household finances and a large part of that is simply getting the bills paid. Instead of needing to write a cheque and mail the payment in, I can take care of my bill payments through online or mobile banking, and some of my bills even have an automated payment schedule setup. It is unbelievable the amount of time saved with online and mobile banking.
So what do I do with all the free time that online and mobile banking has created in my life?
I get creative in my kitchen and start testing new recipes for my family to enjoy and to share with you. Of course nothing says “mom has too much time on her hands” like a fridge full of various Canada Day desserts. In the middle of May.
Scotiabank wants to know, how would you spend the free time saved banking online and through mobile apps?
Start thinking about it seriously because Scotiabank recently launched the #MyFreeTime Contest and it invites Canadians to share how they would spend all the time saved with modern banking technology. Entrants will have the chance to win one of three $1,500 grand prizes and weekly $200 gift cards until June 30, 2016.
That grand prize would be a great way for someone to really take advantage of their free time, don’t you think? If I won one of the $1,500 grand prizes I would use it to spend time with the kids on a fun family staycation and hit up some of our favourite summer spots.
Visit the My Free Time Contest page for details on entry, eligibility and entry. I can’t wait to see how you would spend your free time!
What would you do with more free time and a $1,500 grand prize?
